This year's October turned out to be yet another action-packed month for mobile. First, we got the iPad mini on the 23rd, and on the 29th we'll be officially introduced to Windows Phone 8, as well as Google's next Nexus device/s. But today is a bit different. Today, we'll be witnessing the launch of Windows 8.Typically, we don't pay so much attention to desktop operating systems, but Windows 8 is a bold step by Microsoft - a bold step that's positioning the company much, much better than before when it comes to mobile products like tablets. In fact, with the recent success of the tablet market, it's only natural for Microsoft to try and alter its main product so that it's better-suited for touchscreen use, and that's exactly what it did. With a brand new "Modern" UI and loads of other changes, Microsoft is hoping that Windows 8 Pro and Windows RT are going to be successful competitors against Apple's iOS and Google's Android - two mobile operating systems that are increasingly taking … [Read more...] about Live: Microsoft’s launch of Windows 8

MeoCao (unregistered) Agree, I don't believe MS has enough innovation to make a new distinctive Windows version every year. posted on 28 Nov 2012, 21:40 7 11. nak1017 (Posts: 328; Member since: 08 Jan 2010) It's not a question of innovation, it's a question of priorities. 28. MeoCao (unregistered) I think it shoud be about innovation. It's different in mobile where updates are free, in PC ppl have to pay. posted on 28 Nov 2012, 22:28 2 14. The most convient features are, however, a direct booting to the desktop and the ability to customize the start screen better. The modern (Metro) apps, however, are still crap. posted on 17 Oct 2013, 02:31 0 14. What's going to be the outcome of that in a few years? And once people get used to W8, which it's inevitable … [Read more...] about Comments for : Windows 8.1 begins its rollout tomorrow, the Start Button returns, the Start Menu does not

I really wish they replace desktop icons with modern interface though. Imagine having the "Start Menu" in the background but still have tiled movable windows. I don't know anyone that uses the desktop for quick launching apps anymore. Been using exclusively the taskbar on Windows 7. posted on 06 Feb 2014, 01:57 2 7. tigermcm (Posts: 861; Member since: 02 Sep 2009) hitting one button is EXTREMELY difficult for the majority. if the majority would dedicate 10min they could master win8 posted on 05 Feb 2014, 22:08 0 2. Pings (Posts: 304; Member since: 19 Dec 2008) Me for one! I thought Windows 8 sucks and it does, but Windows 8.1 is worse. I got more problems then I ever had. I want to wipe my PC and go back to Windows 7 but I'm lazy. I have glitches, driver problems, random crashes, just to name a few things. I wonder why PC sales have been failing hard??? Maybe because Windows anything 8+ is no good. posted on 08 Apr 2014, 17:22 3 5. jroc74 (Posts: 6019; Member since: 30 Dec 2010) You know what...I thought this was the WP update...its the desktop version...lol 12. papss (unregistered) I did the same initially lol.. 14.
