Microsoft Teams is finally fixing this ear-splitting annoyance

January 27, 2023 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

Audio player loading… One of the most irritating (and slightly painful) parts of joining a Microsoft Teams call could soon be fixed by a new update. The video conferencing service is a popular choice for many companies, meaning calls with large numbers of participants joining at the same time, and from the same location (such as a meeting room) are a common occurrence. However, often when multiple people join a meeting in the same room, a feedback loop is created, which causes echo, which in most cases quickly escalates to howling - with Microsoft likening the noise to when a musician holds the mic too close to a loudspeaker. Nadella to Microsoft rank-and-file: It’s time to question orthodoxy (Q&A)

July 10, 2014 by www.cnet.com Leave a Comment

In case you still had any doubt, it's no longer Steve Ballmer's Microsoft. Nearly six months into his tenure, CEO Satya Nadella issued a broad-brushed call for change at Microsoft in a 3,100-word note he sent to employees Thursday morning urging the rank-and-file to improve the corporate culture and "obsess" over customers. Although his memo did not offer specifics, Nadella also promised that Microsoft would "flatten the organization" while creating "leaner business processes." That's for another day. More immediately, think of this as Nadella's most visible attempt to publicly stamp the direction of the company he began leading last February. "I used this as a good opportunity for me to just mark the passing of one fiscal year into the next and make sense of the changes," Nadella said in an interview with CNET, during which he described the need for Microsoft to redefine, if not expand, the concept of user productivity. "The real emphasis for us is what's our soul and … [Read more...] about Nadella to Microsoft rank-and-file: It’s time to question orthodoxy (Q&A)

Microsoft has announced big job cuts, affecting 10,000 employees. In a memo to employees, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that the company will be “making changes that will result in the reduction of our overall workforce by 10,000 jobs through the end of FY23 Q3.” While some employees will be notified this week, the entire 10,000 layoffs should be completed by the end of March 2023. While Microsoft is making cuts, Nadella added that there is no hiring freeze and that the company “will continue to hire in key strategic areas.” Microsoft currently over 220,000 employees, and the latest round of layoffs affects around 5% of its workforce. Here's the memo that Nadella sent to the company's employees: Memo starts: We’re living through times of significant change, and as I meet with customers and partners, a few things are clear.
