Five reasons why Apple is ending unit sales reporting of Mac, iPhone, and iPad
Editorial By Daniel Eran Dilger Wednesday, November 28, 2018, 05:43 am PT (08:43 am ET) Unlike any other major consumer electronics company, Apple has long detailed quarterly unit sales along with revenue figures for its major product categories. This initially helped investors get a sense of how many buyers Apple was attracting with its Macs, and later began to reveal to investors how iPod and then iPhone were reaching entirely new audiences. Here's a look at why that's now changing in Apple's Fiscal 2019. On its November 1 conference call, Apple's chief financial officer Luca Maestri stated "we have the strongest lineup ever as we enter the holiday season and we expect revenue to be between $89 billion and $93 billion, a new all-time record." … [Read more...] about Five reasons why Apple is ending unit sales reporting of Mac, iPhone, and iPad
What makes a good AR or VR headset and why Apple is positioned to dominate the space
Feature By Malcolm Owen Thursday, May 31, 2018, 11:09 am PT (02:09 pm ET) If Apple is working on a VR or AR headset, it is certainly aware of the different technologies and concepts already used in the market, including the benefits and pitfalls that can be encountered. AppleInsider provides an overview of the current state of the two technologies, and what Apple needs to consider for creating its own headset design. As the price changes, so does the hardware, and the functionality, with more expensive headsets generally offering a higher-quality experience. Rumors and speculation from analysts point to Apple entering the VR or AR marketplace in the next few years, but aside from some patent filings, it is unknown what exactly to expect from the iPhone producer's fabled hardware. As a premium device … [Read more...] about What makes a good AR or VR headset and why Apple is positioned to dominate the space

From our time so far with the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, it's clear they have strong all-around potential. And while we're still fully testing them, it's also clear there are inherent problems that Samsung's future Galaxy Note 9 can fix. The Galaxy Note is Samsung's pinnacle flagship phone whose high-end features justify the vaulted cost. And with an annual August release, it goes head-to-head with the year's new iPhone. As such, it's the device Samsung often reserves to debut its most innovative features, including the digital S Pen stylus and Samsung's now-signature curved glass screens. By saving some improvements for the Galaxy Note 9 -- or further refining the changes Samsung made with the S9 phones -- the company not only has an opportunity to course-correct, it can also unquestionably distinguish the pricey, large-screen Note 9 from the large-screen Galaxy S9 Plus, while also building excitement for the Galaxy Note as Samsung's "best" phone. Here's how the Galaxy Note 9 can … [Read more...] about All the ways the Galaxy Note 9 could be better than the S9
