Minnesota Bishop Robert Barron Slams ‘Barbaric’ Abortion Law

February 3, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

ROME — Bishop Robert Barron of Winona-Rochester has blasted a new Minnesota abortion law as “morally outrageous” and “the worst kind of barbarism.” In a video posted on social media, Bishop Barron described the bill signed this week by Democrat Gov. Tim Walz as “the most radical abortion law in the country” while calling on Americans to “stand against this barbarism.” Friends, there is a morally outrageous bill that has now been signed into law by @GovTimWalz . This bill is the most radical abortion law in the country. We must continue to stand against this barbarism. Pray for the conversion of hearts and minds. pic.twitter.com/9A2CI3Xq5w — Bishop Robert Barron (@BishopBarron) February 1, 2023 The law, whose full title is the Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act, establishes abortion up to birth for any reason as “a fundamental right” in Minnesota. “Every individual who becomes pregnant has a fundamental right to continue the pregnancy and give birth, or … [Read more...] about Minnesota Bishop Robert Barron Slams ‘Barbaric’ Abortion Law

Dwarf Fortress financials mark fairytale ending for indie developer

February 3, 2023 by www.techspot.com Leave a Comment

In a nutshell: Various tech giants like Meta, Google, Amazon, and Apple posted negative quarterly and annual statements this week. Amidst the corporate gloom, it's nice to see financials that tell a hopeful story for a small company, especially one behind a game as popular as Dwarf Fortress. A month after the first commercial release of Dwarf Fortress, the game's developer revealed this week that it earned $7.23 million in sales. According to Bay 12 Games' comparison, the number eclipses returns from the previous four months by two decimal points. In each of the months between September and December 2022, Bay 12 Games brought in around $15,000, most of it likely from Patreon donations. After offering the immensely popular Dwarf Fortress exclusively as freeware for 16 years, the company released the first commercial version on December 6, and a few weeks later posted the astronomical January increase. In a post on the Bay 12 forums, the developers say almost half of the money … [Read more...] about Dwarf Fortress financials mark fairytale ending for indie developer

AMD RDNA 3 appears primed for 3D V-cache integration

January 31, 2023 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

Audio player loading… With the announcement of AMD Ryzen 7000X3D-series chips at CES 2023, a lot of attention has been paid to what the new stackable cache technology can bring to Zen 4 processors. According to a new teardown of the Radeon RX 7900 XT, there is reason to hope that this same technology will be making its way to a graphics card near you. What else can you see? A linear array of "spots" that look remarkably like the keep out zones on X3D, and that are on the same 17-18 um pitch. Could they be considering stacked MCD functionality (or maybe they're something else)? January 27, 2023 See more Tom Wassick, a self-described "semiconductor packaging engineering professional", tore down the new Radeon RX 7900 XT (opens in new tab) to do a deep dive into its guts using infrared imaging. He says the same kind of 3D V-cache connections used for the AMD Ryzen 5800X3D exist on the Radeon RX 7900 XT's MCD die, though there is a blank piece of silicon where a … [Read more...] about AMD RDNA 3 appears primed for 3D V-cache integration

PS5 update means the console is catching up with Xbox Series X framerates

February 2, 2023 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

Audio player loading… Sony has released a new beta update for the PS5 that finally brings Variable Refresh Rate to 1440p resolution on the console, and you can even apply it to ‘unsupported games’. While some of the best PS5 games can achieve 120 fps at 4K resolutions, they’re in the minority. After this update, many more will be able to hit that framerate while playing at 1440p. VRR, which dynamically scales the rendering resolution to prioritize framerate in the target resolution, was previously only available in 4K on the console. The official PlayStation blog post (opens in new tab) goes into the specifics of what the new PS5 beta firmware is able to do. As well as bringing VRR to 1440p screens, the beta activates Auto Low Latency Mode, which was previously only available in 4K. Modern screens often have in-built image processing capabilities that work to make movies and TV shows look as good as possible on your screen. However, those processes can … [Read more...] about PS5 update means the console is catching up with Xbox Series X framerates

Apple Watch owners’ next must-have gadget is a sleep-tracking smart Oura Ring

February 2, 2023 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

Audio player loading… In a world in which you can get smart versions of almost anything, from speakers and watches to water bottles and running shoes, I find smart rings particularly fascinating. In some ways, they're the perfect wearable – unobtrusive, stylish and able to seamlessly blend with the rest of your outfit. However, they're far too small to pack a screen, so all the data it collects is only available in the corresponding app. Out of all the smart ring offerings available right now, the Oura Ring is the best-known and most adopted, topping our list of the best sleep trackers . The Oura Generation 3 is a solid wellness tracker geared towards monitoring sleep and stress rather than pure fitness, with seven temperature sensors monitoring your 'restorative time', an updated heart rate sensor, and a readiness score just like Garmin or Fitbit. The Oura Ring is a screenless wearable like most other smart rings, a chunky yet pretty ring designed to be worn on the … [Read more...] about Apple Watch owners’ next must-have gadget is a sleep-tracking smart Oura Ring

Until further notice, think twice before using Google to download software

February 3, 2023 by arstechnica.com Leave a Comment

Searching Google for downloads of popular software has always come with risks, but over the past few months, it has been downright dangerous, according to researchers and a pseudorandom collection of queries. “Threat researchers are used to seeing a moderate flow of malvertising via Google Ads,” volunteers at Spamhaus wrote on Thursday . “However, over the past few days, researchers have witnessed a massive spike affecting numerous famous brands, with multiple malware being utilized. This is not ‘the norm.’” One of many new threats: MalVirt The surge is coming from numerous malware families, including AuroraStealer, IcedID , Meta Stealer, RedLine Stealer, Vidar, Formbook, and XLoader. In the past, these families typically relied on phishing and malicious spam that attached Microsoft Word documents with booby-trapped macros. July 12, 2017 by www.howtogeek.com Leave a Comment

So you’ve just unpacked that spiffy new monitor, and it sits fresh and new on your desk putting your other little displays to shame. Now you have to give it some sartorial splendor: a kick-ass wallpaper from the online repository of your choice. But now comes the conundrum—what if you want to use different images on different screens? RELATED: How to Set a Different Wallpaper on Each Monitor in Windows 10 Unfortunately, Windows 7’s default wallpaper handler is pretty primitive for multiple displays. (Windows 8 and 10 are much better, so check out these instructions if you’re using a later version of Windows.) In Windows 7, you have two options for using different wallpapers: you can create your own combined image, using your favorite image editor, or you can use a third-party tool like DisplayFusion or UltraMon .
