The Justice Department unsealed charges Monday against two people, one a “founding member of a neo-Nazi group,” in relation to an alleged plot to sabotage power stations in Baltimore Maryland. The two suspects, Sarah Beth Clendaniel, 34, and Brandon Clint Russell, 27, are charged with conspiracy to damage an energy facility, the Justice Department announced in a press release. A new report says an attempt to boost Twitter Blue subscription revenue isn't paying off much yet, and a plan to charge for API access has angered users and developers. In a tweet on Sunday , Musk said he's had an "extremely tough" three months because he "had to save Twitter from bankruptcy, while fulfilling essential Tesla & SpaceX duties... Leaked DJI Mini 2 SE could soon be the best cheap drone for beginners

February 6, 2023 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

Audio player loading… If you're in the market for a travel-friendly drone that's a bit more affordable than the DJI Mini 3 Pro , you could soon be in luck – a new sub-250g model called the DJI Mini 2 SE has just leaked. Photos of the incoming drone, which will likely succeed DJI's current entry-level Mini SE, have just shared on Twitter by the reliable @DealsDrone (opens in new tab) and @JasperEllens (opens in new tab) . The images show an almost identical drone to the Mini SE, bar one crucial addition – compatibility with the newer DJI RC-N1 controller. The latter is important, because it supports OcuSync 2.0 transmission, which is vastly superior to the Mini SE's current 'Enhanced Wi-Fi' connectivity. According to a leaked photo of the drone's box (below), this will give the DJI Mini 2 SE a much greater range of 10km (rather than 4km of the Mini SE) in the US. Based on the current DJI Mini 2, this range will be more like 6km in regions outside the US, … [Read more...] about Leaked DJI Mini 2 SE could soon be the best cheap drone for beginners

The Samsung Galaxy S23 will miss out on this unsung Android feature

February 6, 2023 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

Audio player loading… Another year, another Samsung smartphone that isn’t quite using Android to its full potential. The new Galaxy S23 lineup is again not giving users access to seamless Android updates – a handy tool that limits how long your phone is out of action when you upgrade its OS. At its recent Samsung Unpacked 2023 event the company unveiled its new smartphone lineup: the Samsung Galaxy S23 , the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus, and the top-of-the-line Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra . All three phones feature a new custom Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and upgraded 12MP selfie cameras – with the Ultra taking its main snapper to a whopping 200MP. But as spotted by Android Police (opens in new tab) , despite these upgrades the smartphones aren’t yet supporting one of Android’s most useful features: seamless updates. Typically, upgrading a device is something of a nuisance. You have to sit staring at a progress bar screen – its other features rendered … [Read more...] about The Samsung Galaxy S23 will miss out on this unsung Android feature

As Antarctic fieldwork ends, a sexual harassment reckoning looms

February 7, 2023 by arstechnica.com Leave a Comment

In September 2022, two months before Ph.D. student Megan Kerr was scheduled to board a military plane bound for the Antarctic ice sheet, she found herself in a conference room on Oregon State University’s campus, waiting to ask a question that had been nagging her for weeks. She sat intently through a presentation from the National Science Foundation Office of Polar Programs. Then, she raised her hand. The room full of graduate students turned in their chairs. “This NSF report about all the sexual harassment that’s going on in the field,” she said. “What is the NSF going to be doing in the short term, also long term, about that?” Because “a lot of us are going into the field in like, two months.” These students and about a hundred other researchers from roughly a dozen institutions had gathered at Oregon State University to kick off COLDEX , a 5-year, $25 million-dollar paleoclimatology project tasked by the NSF, the federal science agency, to find and drill a core of Earth’s … [Read more...] about As Antarctic fieldwork ends, a sexual harassment reckoning looms
