In recent years, the US has added a growing number of Chinese firms to a list that prohibits them from doing certain types of business with the country. Many of those sanctions include a ban on buying technology, but it seems that some Chinese companies have found a way around this though, by renting what they need, and it seems to be costing less than one would expect. According to a recent Financial Times (opens in new tab) report, Chinese AI groups are using intermediaries and third parties to get access to US chips, rendering any sanctions against them pretty inefficient. Google has suspended Chinese ecommerce giant Pinduoduo from its Play Store amid security concerns. The Android maker is urging customers to uninstall the app from their devices, including any installs made from third-party app stores and other downloads. Bloomberg (opens in new tab) states that it’s unclear whether other local app stores including those by Huawei, Xiaomi, and Tencent, have made any action against Pinduoduo and parent company PDD Holdings, given that the Google Play Store is not available in the country. Pinduoduo blocked Pinduoduo allows customers to buy fresh produce from farmers in a country whose citizens are increasingly conscious of food quality. The app has since gone on to amass more active users than Alibaba in China. Huawei is launching the foldable Huawei Mate X3 tomorrow (March 23) alongside the flagship Huawei P60 , but, as is often the case with smartphone launches, there might not be much to reveal, as many of the Huawei Mate X3’s specs have already been leaked. The latest on that front comes from reputable leaker Digital Chat Station (opens in new tab) , who, posting on Weibo (via GSMArena (opens in new tab) ), claims that the Mate X3 has a 7.8-inch foldable screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, along with a triple-lens camera setup that includes a 50MP primary sensor and a periscope zoom lens.
