google: President Joe Biden moves to slash US credit card fees, app charges

February 2, 2023 by www.gadgetsnow.com Leave a Comment

President Joe Biden on Wednesday unveiled fresh efforts to slash credit card late fees and drive down the prices that Apple Inc and Google parent Alphabet Inc charge on mobile app stores. The move is part of a larger policy drive to promote competition in consumer markets, officials said. Speaking at the White House , Biden also called on lawmakers to ban "junk fees," which he said jacked up costs for consumer services such as accommodation, concert tickets, mobile plans and air travel, in which officials said air carriers can charge family members extra to be seated next to young children. Senate Intel. Chair Warner: ‘My Patience Is Running Thin’ with Biden over TikTok, The Review’s Lasted over Two Years

February 3, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

On Thursday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Claman Countdown,” Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) stated that his “patience is running thin” with the Biden administration and TikTok and noted that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) has been reviewing TikTok for two years. Warner said, “I’ve been raising concerns about TikTok for months, and let’s go into the two concerns I have: One, the amount of data that TikTok is collecting — since so many of our users are our kids — on our kids that that data resides in China. And even though TikTok has said that’s not the case, there have been constant examples where it has been proven that Chinese engineers are still getting access to that data. The second piece is frankly, Liz, more concerning to me…the algorithms that drive what you see very much [are] controlled by the TikTok leadership. And my concern since every company in China now has to owe its first allegiance, not … [Read more...] about Senate Intel. Republican States Ask Federal Judge to End DACA

February 2, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

A group of nine Republican states, led by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, asked a federal judge on Tuesday to overrule President Joe Biden’s updated Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. “This lawsuit is about the scope of executive power, not the wisdom of any particular immigration policy,” the states argued in their motion for summary judgment. “No President can unilaterally override Congress’s duly enacted laws simply because he prefers different policy choices.” The lawsuit will be heard before U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen, who held that the 2012 Obama-era DACA memo was unlawful in the Summer of 2021. Hanen’s ruling was ultimately upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. However, the Fifth Circuit remanded the case to the district court in light of an updated DACA rule Biden issued that went into effect on October 31. Immigration advocates rally to urge to urge Congress to pass permanent protections for DACA recipients and … [Read more...] about Republican States Ask Federal Judge to End DACA

Exclusive: CNN Camera Crew Present Outside Mike Pence Group in D.C.

February 2, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

A CNN camera crew was as of Thursday morning present on the street outside former Vice President Mike Pence’s advocacy group headquarters in downtown Washington, DC, Breitbart News has learned. The group is called Advancing American Freedom and has headquarters in downtown Washington, D.C. Photos of the CNN staffers—who had a camera on a tripod there—provided to Breitbart News suggest the camera crew was possibly awaiting action from the Department of Justice (DOJ) or FBI in the ongoing classified document scandals plaguing Pence, former President Donald Trump, and current President Joe Biden. CNN and the DOJ have not replied to requests for comment. Pence officials have previously made clear that staff-led searches have been conducted both at Pence’s home in Indiana and at this organization’s headquarters and that there are no other possible locations to search. The presence of the CNN camera crew raises questions about whether or not the DOJ or FBI are leaking to … [Read more...] about Exclusive: CNN Camera Crew Present Outside Mike Pence Group in D.C.

Report: Migrants Arriving on Buses to Cost New Yorkers More than $4 Billion

February 2, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

Border crossers, arriving on buses from Texas to New York City, are expected to cost New Yorkers more than $4 billion over the next two years, according to new estimates. Since the spring of last year, close to 50,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have arrived in the sanctuary city of New York City — sent on buses mostly from Texas, although Arizona has also sent a few thousand. In November 2022, an estimate from the Independent Budget Office found that the steady arrival of border crossers would cost New Yorkers “at least” $850 million. Sources close to Mayor Eric Adams’ office now reveal to local media that the cost estimate to New Yorkers is closer to about $4.2 billion for Fiscal Years 2022 and 2023. That cost estimate includes what it will take to clothe, house, educate, and provide medical services to border crossers arriving on a weekly basis to the city. @datainput via Storyful In an interview with CBS News, Adams again called on President Joe Biden to … [Read more...] about Report: Migrants Arriving on Buses to Cost New Yorkers More than $4 Billion
