What just happened? Following Nintendo's announcement that the Wii U and 3DS eShops would shut down in March 2023, some gamers rushed to keep their favorite games available. However, one person took preservation to an entirely different level, purchasing every title on each console's eShop. Many customers were upset when Nintendo announced the unfortunate discontinuation of the Wii U and 3DS eShops. The shutdown meant users could no longer digitally purchase games and may only install ones that they had previously bought. While this might not sound too serious, both consoles have a massive "digital-only" library scheduled to close on March 27. Each console's Virtual Console catalog will no longer be available following the shutdown. Though some of these retro games have now found their way onto the Switch, most haven't. Nintendo's decision led Jirard Khalil, better known as "The Completionist," and his friends to perform a significant feat of gaming preservation. In a process … [Read more...] about YouTuber purchased every Wii U and 3DS eShop game for $22,000

Nintendo shares final Super Mario Bros. Movie trailer and kicks off Mario Day festivities
In a nutshell: Nintendo has shared the final trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie ahead of its April 5 theatrical debut. Additionally, the Japanese gaming giant has launched its annual MAR10 Day festivities with discounts on some of its top games. The minute-and-a-half spot plays more like a video game trailer than a movie preview. It's the exact opposite of what Nintendo attempted to accomplish with its first Super Mario Bros. film back in 1993. "This Ain't No Game," that flick's movie poster read. Nintendo's latest effort features cutting-edge animation and a star-studded voice cast including Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, Fred Armisen and Keegan-Michael Key, among others. Charles Martinet, who has voiced both Mario and Luigi in several games since the early 90s, will also appear in "surprise cameos" throughout the film. The film looks to be full of humor that'll get both kids and adults through the doors, and longtime fans will no doubt … [Read more...] about Nintendo shares final Super Mario Bros. Brace yourselves – Apple Music may be showing you other people’s playlists.
Some Apple Music users are posting on Reddit about playlists from other users randomly appearing in their own music library in the app, causing some rather serious privacy concerns. Discovering new music and curating super niche playlists is one of the joys of modern music streaming services. There’s nothing better than finding a very specific playlist with a slightly off-putting title and diving into the carefully curated mood created by the crater of the playlist. However, MacRumors was approached by Reddit user @adh1003 who had compiled complaints from users about the strange guest appearance of playlists they don’t recognize. Unknown playlist, im 100% i have NEVER made this, its an empty playlist, anyone else also getting unknown playlists? This is my 1st time i got it. from r/AppleMusic Apparently, in some cases, these unknown playlists have merged with users' original playlists causing a vibe entanglement, or users' playlists are just missing … [Read more...] about Brace yourselves – Apple Music may be showing you other people’s playlists.

Windows 11 Will Show Account Notifications in the Start Menu
Windows 11 is always evolving, and now that Microsoft is aiming to roll out features more than once a year , we’re going see changes more frequently. Microsoft is now testing an update to the Start Menu. Microsoft released Windows 11 Build 22621.1483 (KB5023778) to Windows Insiders in the Preview Release Channel. There are a few changes here that haven’t appeared in the other channels yet (like Dev and Canary ), which is a bit strange, considering the Release Preview Channel is supposed to be the final round of testing before a change rolls out to everyone. This update adds notifications for your Microsoft account in the Start Menu, which appear above the Lock and Sign out buttons when clicking your profile picture. The example Microsoft provided shows an alert for backing up your files. Windows 11 already shows similar alerts in the Settings app and notification tray, but now you might see them in yet another place. The blog post explains, “This is only available to … [Read more...] about Windows 11 Will Show Account Notifications in the Start Menu
Google Docs Will Help You Organize Long Documents
Perhaps one of the more annoying parts of writing a document, especially if it’s a long one (like an essay) is indexing everything you wrote as a table of contents. Thankfully, Google Docs is making that much easier. The latest update to Google Docs is adding a few extra capabilities for tables of contents. If you have the necessary headings and subheadings, Docs can already whip you up a table of contents, but the section is now easier to customize. With a couple of clicks, you can now change and add things such as page numbers, and tab leader styling, and you can also indent headings based on level. If you don’t want to customize too much, you can also choose between three different default styles. Google If you’re using regular tables, you might also appreciate the changes that are being done to the table properties page instead. It isn’t adding any new functionality, but it’s organizing all table customization options on a single page, so your table looks just the … [Read more...] about Google Docs Will Help You Organize Long Documents

There is no Banking Crisis in Europe, French Finance Boss Insists
Europe’s banking sector is not in crisis despite the collapse of two major players on the continent, a sector official in France has said. Despite claims to the contrary, Philippe Brassac, the head of the French Banking Federation (FBF), has insisted that there is no banking crisis currently plaguing Europe. The statement comes amid floundering investor confidence in European banking, with the collapse of major player Credit Suisse as well as the UK branch of the Silicon Valley Bank prompting concerns that the whole sector could be facing contagion. According to a report by Le Figaro , Brassac has rejected such a pessimistic outlook, insisting that problems with the current banking system are limited to the United States, and the European businesses in the sector will remain isolated from any issues. “There is no banking crisis,” the senior banker insisted regarding Europe, insisting that while “there are banks which are in difficulty”, these businesses are ultimately … [Read more...] about There is no Banking Crisis in Europe, French Finance Boss Insists
Sunak’s Northern Ireland Deal Passes Despite Brexiteer Opposition
LONDON (AP) – British lawmakers voted overwhelmingly Wednesday in favor of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s deal with the European Union to rewrite the rules on Northern Ireland trade. The House of Commons voted 515-29 to back a key portion of the agreement, which is designed to resolve a thorny trade dispute that vexed U.K.-EU relations and triggered a political crisis in Belfast. But Sunak faced a rebellion by about 20 fellow Conservatives, including his two immediate predecessors. Former prime ministers Boris Johnson and Liz Truss had both said they would vote against the deal. Johnson, who led Britain out of the EU in 2020, said the deal was “not acceptable” because it kept some EU laws in operation in Northern Ireland, restricting the U.K.’s ability to diverge from the bloc’s rules and “take advantage of Brexit.” A hard-Brexit group of Conservative Party lawmakers known as the European Research Group also said it opposed the deal. The Commons vote today was the last throw … [Read more...] about Sunak’s Northern Ireland Deal Passes Despite Brexiteer Opposition
