Former Trump official claims the US would destroy TSMC plants were China to invade Taiwan

March 15, 2023 by www.techspot.com Leave a Comment

Why it matters: The idea that the US would destroy Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing facilities to keep them out of China's hands in the event of an invasion has resurfaced. The very mention of such a drastic measure highlights the volatility of tensions surrounding the three countries, but TSMC thinks its factories could be neutralized much less violently. Former US National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien told Semafor this week that the US and its allies would destroy TSMC's manufacturing capacity in Taiwan if they failed to prevent China from invading and taking over the self-ruled island. O'Brien warned that letting China take control of the facilities would give it too much power, but TSMC disagrees. TSMC is easily the world's largest maker of the semiconductors that power most computerized devices today. As such, its fate and the subsequent effects on the global economy are a primary issue of concern regarding tensions between China, Taiwan, and the US. China considers … [Read more...] about Former Trump official claims the US would destroy TSMC plants were China to invade Taiwan

March 18, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

George Washington University Law Professor Jonathon Turley called the Manhattan District Attorney’s potential case against former President Donald J. Trump “legally pathetic” after the 45th president announced he expects to be arrested next week. George Soros- tied Manhattan District Attorney Bragg is allegedly preparing to indict the leading GOP presidential candidate “for alleged hush money payments Trump made as a presidential candidate in 2016” to Stormy Daniels, Fox News reported . In a series of tweets, Turley said he is “highly critical of this case,” which he called potentially “flawed.” …Bragg may be able to expect highly motivated judges and jurors in New York. However, the novelty and questions in this case would present difficult appellate issues for the prosecution. — Jonathan Turley (@JonathanTurley) March 18, 2023 “This is a flawed case if it is based on a state charge effectively prosecuting the federal election violation,” wrote Turley. “That … [Read more...] about ‘Legally Pathetic’: Jonathon Turley Shreds Bragg’s Potential Case Against Trump

March 17, 2023 by www.techspot.com Leave a Comment

What just happened? Donald Trump's ban from mainstream social media is over after YouTube lifted its restrictions on his account two years after he was suspended. The former president's return to YouTube means Trump is once again welcome on the major platforms that banned him in the wake of the Capitol riots. The announcement was made by YouTube's vice president of public policy, Leslie Miller, who told Axios that beginning March 17, the Donald J. Trump channel would "no longer restricted and the ability to upload new content is restored." "We carefully evaluated the continued risk of real-world violence, balancing that with the importance of preserving the opportunity for voters to hear equally from major national candidates in the run-up to an election," Miller said. "This channel will continue to be subject to our policies, just like any other channel on YouTube." Trump's channel was suspended by YouTube on January 12, 2021, in response to the US Capitol attack that took … [Read more...] about Donald Trump completes social media return after YouTube ends ban

Jim Jordan: Did the Manhattan DA’s Trump Investigation Stem from the Mueller Special Counsel Probe?

March 21, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH), the House Judiciary Committee chairman, said he wants to know how much correspondence occurred between the Department of Justice and the Manhattan District Attorney’s office in the lead-up to its investigation of former President Donald Trump. Earlier in the day, House Republicans revealed their intentions to conduct queries into the potential relationship. Jordan, during an appearance on FNC’s “The Faulkner Focus,” questioned the merits of the Manhattan DA’s office investigation but said it was an open question if the allegations Trump was facing go back to the Mueller special counsel probe. “[W]e want to know what’s going on here,” he said. “We want to see the communications that have – that have taken place between the Federal Justice Department and your District Attorney’s office there in Manhattan because, understand, Harris, first they went after President Trump on Russia, then it was a phone call with Zelenskyy, then they wanted his tax … [Read more...] about Jim Jordan: Did the Manhattan DA’s Trump Investigation Stem from the Mueller Special Counsel Probe?

Twitter search for “asshole,” “dickhead,” “racist” serve up Trump’s profile

January 26, 2017 by arstechnica.com Leave a Comment

Searches for the words "asshole," "dickhead," or "racist" on Twitter have been returning results for US president Donald Trump's profile. By Thursday morning, however, all of those results had vanished from Twitter. But, when quizzed by Ars, the Jack Dorsey-run firm declined to comment on whether it had scrubbed the results clean. A similar search on Wednesday night via the Twitter app for the word "crooked" didn't lead to Hillary Clinton being recommended to users, despite Trump trying to ridicule his presidential campaign rival by repeatedly describing Clinton as "crooked Hillary." But the word "corrupt"—another jibe heavily used by Trump last year—did return Hillary Clinton's Twitter profile as a recommendation to users. And a Twitter search for "tiny hands" is still returning a recommendation for Trump's personal Twitter profile. It's likely that Twitter's powerful search algorithm—rather than a rogue engineer—was responsible for serving the results, based on popular … [Read more...] about Twitter search for “asshole,” “dickhead,” “racist” serve up Trump’s profile
