Stephen Hawking dies at age 76, Apple’s Tim Cook pays tribute
By Stephen Silver Wednesday, March 14, 2018, 06:25 am PT (09:25 am ET) The author and physicist, one of the most important thinkers of the last century, was praised by Apple CEO Tim Cook, Steve Wozniak and others following his passing on Monday. Stephen Hawking clearly made a huge impact on the world of Apple- and not only because of all those years of jokes about how the revolutionary system he used to speak sounded a lot like an early Macintosh. Cook praised the late Hawking on Twitter Tuesday morning, stating that "we will always be inspired by his life and ideas." "The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge." -Stephen Hawking. We will always be inspired by his life and ideas. Based on other tweets from the occasional Twitter user's timeline, specifically commentary on the current administration, the comparison to the U.S. President is most likely intended to be negative. Hours after the tweet was posted, it has received hundreds of replies and retweets, with social media users pushing the Like counter into the thousands. Despite being an angry tweet about Tim Cook, it is not entirely clear what Rose is referring to, aside from it being something to do with the music … [Read more...] about Guns N’ Roses’ singer Axl Rose compares Apple CEO Tim Cook to Donald Trump

By Malcolm Owen Thursday, March 08, 2018, 08:21 am PT (11:21 am ET) Apple CEO Tim Cook quoted Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai on Twitter, as one of a number of ways Apple is commemorating International Women's Day on March 8, celebrating the achievements of women and commemorating the movement for women's rights. In the tweet, Cook thanks all the inspiring women he works with at Apple, as well as "every woman who fights for equality." Cook elected to include a quote from Malala Yousafzai, a well-known campaigner aiming to increase the access of education for girls in developing regions. The quote reads: "There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen. There is a third power stronger than both, that of women." In January, Apple revealed it pledged support to the Malala Fund, which is expected to help double the number of grants provided by the fund's Gulmakai Network, which supports education programs in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Lebanon, … [Read more...] about Apple CEO Tim Cook, Apple Music, App Stores commemorate International Women’s Day celebrations
