This Christmas Day, we get our first look at the trailer for Us, Jordan Peele's much-anticipated follow-up to his 2017 film Get Out. And it looks viscerally terrifying in a way his first film, which opted for muted subtlety, was not. Get Out was one of our favorite films of 2017, a subtle exploration of racial tensions that quietly builds to reveal its horrifying premise and inevitably bloody conclusion. It was a surprise box office hit, raking in more than $250 million globally, and snagging multiple Oscar nominations, including for Best Picture. Peele won the Oscar for best original screenplay—the first time the award has gone to a black recipient. Us looks like more of a standard horror film, in the "home invasion by strange creatures" category. US president Donald Trump asked North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un to watch a video on an iPad yesterday, during a summit between the two leader’s nations in Singapore. The film, which was also shown to the media, depicts the two leaders as the protagonists in a four minute movie trailer where they’re asked to heroically break the cycles that have repeated throughout history. It’s like the creators of “South Park” filmed a fake trailer for a comedic satire, but it’s real. You can watch the 4:12 trailer below. Most of us base our decision off of a review, a short trailer, or just by checking the movie’s rating. There are a few good reasons you would want to avoid reading reviews, or watching a trailer, although they bring much more information than a rating.
