On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “AC360,” Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) argued that the Senate gun legislation “paves the way in the future to look at” other gun control provisions. Host Anderson Cooper asked, “Well, there [are] probably a lot of people who wanted this to — obviously, you said you wanted this to go farther in terms of gun safety or gun control. What do you say to those who say that this doesn’t go far enough and that this may make it harder to try to get further changes in the future?” Klobuchar responded, “We have worked on this for decades. And after Parkland, I sat across from Donald Trump at the White House, along with a number of senators, he said he was going to do something about background checks. I still have the piece of paper, eight times, nine times, he said it…nothing happened. After Sandy Hook, nothing happened. And when you talk to the families who have been working on this for so long, they understand how difficult this has been, how disappointing … [Read more...] about Klobuchar: Senate Gun Bill ‘Paves the Way’ for Other Gun Control Measures

Dem Sen. Murphy: Senate Gun Bill Getting GOP Support Paves ‘the Way for Even More’
On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “All In,” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) stated that Republican senators supporting the Senate gun legislation over opposition from the NRA “sort of paves the way for even more progress in the future, now that we have broken this logjam.” And “That’s maybe the legacy of the bill in the long run.” Murphy stated, “[F]or 30 years in Washington, the NRA got everything they wanted, and if the NRA opposed a bill, it was essentially dead letter. That’s not the case any longer and that is because, over time, citizens have organized, and especially in the wake of Uvalde, when senators went home, they heard loud and clear from their constituents that this time, doing nothing could not be an option. The fear and the anxiety was just palpable in this country. So, yes, the NRA is opposed to this bill and there are going to be somewhere between 15 and 20 Republican senators that are going to vote for it, which I think sort of paves the way for even more progress in … [Read more...] about Dem Sen. Chicago Alderman: Gun Violence in Chicago Gets ‘Lost in the Background Noise’ — Should Get Same Attention as Highland Park
On Tuesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “The Story,” Chicago Alderman and mayoral candidate Raymond Lopez stated that gun violence in the city of Chicago has become “lost in the background noise” and stated there hasn’t been the same anger, outrage, and federal involvement for gun violence in Chicago that the shooting in Highland Park has received because it’s “the difference between the frog in boiling water and the frog in water that’s getting slowly and steadily warmer.” Lopez said, “I think what we see is the difference between the frog in boiling water and the frog in water that’s getting slowly and steadily warmer. And what happened in Highland Park was horrible, horrific, and tragic. But it was a singular event and it jolts the system. But in Chicago, weekend after weekend, we’ve seen where it’s just one shooting here, another shooting there, a couple shootings over here and it just gets lost in the background noise. But you’re absolutely correct, Trace. Where was … [Read more...] about Chicago Alderman: Gun Violence in Chicago Gets ‘Lost in the Background Noise’ — Should Get Same Attention as Highland Park
Historic Supreme Court Decisions Loom on Abortion, Guns, Religion
WASHINGTON, DC – The Supreme Court is expected in the next seven days to hand down five major decisions, three of which will be huge, and potentially material for the history books –on abortion, the Second Amendment, and religious liberty. The Supreme Court’s term begins the first Monday of October, and officially lasts until the date of the next term’s October start date. But the court’s term as a public matter usually ends in the final week of June, which is to say next week. This year is unusual in the number of extremely consequential cases it has. This week the court held in Carson v. Makin that Maine violated the First Amendment’s Free Exercise Clause by excluding Christian school choice from a school aid program. But with Carson decided, fully five of the court’s 13 remaining cases are also major cases. One is Biden v. Texas , about President Joe Biden’s attempt to shut down one of former President Donald Trump’s signature policies, the Migrant Protection Protocols … [Read more...] about Historic Supreme Court Decisions Loom on Abortion, Guns, Religion
Super Soaker introduces a new wrinkle to squirt guns: magazines
It has been a long time since we've seen something new and interesting in the world of squirt guns. Hasbro has come up with a new way of keeping extra water ready for quick reloads when you're in the field, trying to soak your children (or parents, as the case may be) as efficiently as possible. With the new line of Super Soaker water guns you don't need to find a house or go inside to a sink: you simply remove your empty magazine and slam a new one in. It's like a squirt gun action film. There are a number of guns that use the magazines, and the design is pretty cool. You fill the magazine up with water using a wide opening in the front, and close it with a large, easy-to-grasp screw top. It's easy to open, takes seconds to refill, and is simple to close again. There is a string attached to the top that connects to a porous ball inside the magazine, so the cap can't be lost. There are two openings at the top of the magazine with a pressure-operated stopper. When the magazines … [Read more...] about Super Soaker introduces a new wrinkle to squirt guns: magazines
Nolte: Sexist Keith Olbermann Belittles SCOTUS Justice Amy Coney Barrett as ‘Paralegal’
After Keith Olbermann showed his fascist stripes in calling for the dissolution of the Supreme Court, he revealed his sexist fangs by belittling Justice Amy Coney Barrett as a “paralegal.” On Thursday, Olbermann had one of his classic meltdowns after the Supreme Court did the right thing in a 6-3 decision that affirmed America’s basic civil rights. New York and several other Democrat-run states have been violating human rights for years by denying their citizens the basic right of self-defense. Unless the Democrat-run government agreed with your reasons for wanting to carry a gun outside your home, the government denied you that right—which is no more morally or legally different than denying your right to free speech outside the home. Americans have the God-given and Constitutional right to free speech and to bear arms, and those rights do not end outside your front door. Leftists like Olbermann only want criminals and murderers to carry guns outside the home. This creates … [Read more...] about Nolte: Sexist Keith Olbermann Belittles SCOTUS Justice Amy Coney Barrett as ‘Paralegal’
McCaskill: Vote to ‘Get Rid of People’ Who Want High-Capacity Magazines Available
MSNBC contributor Claire McCaskill said Tuesday on “Deadline” that people need to use their voices at the ballot box in the November midterm elections “to get rid of people who think we have to have high-capacity magazines available.” McCaskill said, “It is really hard to kind of grapple with the notion that we’ve gotten to the point that 40,000 people die every year that never make a headline. We’re not talking about the young lives that were lost in Kansas City today or the lives that were lost in Gary, Indiana, or in Chicago or New York or Philadelphia or Boston or small communities across this country where a young child gets ahold of a gun that has not been stored safely. Our love affair with guns has turned into a massive cause of death in this country. I understand that it is kind of bred into our culture in some ways, this love affair with guns, but you know, somebody on Twitter today had a sarcastic tweet that I thought was pretty clever. He said a well-regulated militia … [Read more...] about McCaskill: Vote to ‘Get Rid of People’ Who Want High-Capacity Magazines Available
Terrorism Suspected as Oslo Nightclub Shooting Left 2 Dead, 10 Injured
OSLO, Norway (AP) – A gunman opened fire in Oslo’s night-life district early Saturday, killing two people and leaving 10 seriously wounded in what police are investigating as a possible terrorist attack during the Norwegian capital’s annual Pride festival. Investigators said the suspect, identified as a 42-year-old Norwegian citizen originally from Iran, was arrested after opening fire at three locations in downtown Oslo. While the motive was unclear, organizers of Oslo Pride canceled a parade that was set for Saturday as the highlight of a weeklong festival. One of the shootings happened outside the London Pub, a bar popular with the city’s LGBTQ community, just hours before the parade was set to begin. Police attorney Christian Hatlo said the suspect was being held on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and terrorism, based on the number of people targeted at multiple locations. “Our overall assessment is that there are grounds to believe that he wanted to cause grave … [Read more...] about Terrorism Suspected as Oslo Nightclub Shooting Left 2 Dead, 10 Injured
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU gets a delid for improved temperatures
In context: In recent years, delidding has gradually become a lost art due to improvements in modern IHS design, the use of better thermal interface materials, and idiot-proof tools for the delidding process. However, it's always a pleasant surprise when a processor like the Ryzen 7 5800X3D that marks the end of an era gets delidded by an enthusiast who believes the reward is well worth the risks. Earlier this month, an anonymous overclocker delidded an engineering sample from the upcoming Ryzen 7000 CPU lineup and revealed the bare dies in all their glory along with the first new integrated heat spreader (IHS) design change in years. Normally, this procedure is only done by enthusiasts looking to reduce operating temperatures without the use of exotic cooling hardware. For obvious reasons, the Ryzen 7000 series processor delid was only a tease meant to showcase how AMD is working around some of the problems of moving to an LGA socket for the new CPUs. At the same time, it … [Read more...] about The Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU gets a delid for improved temperatures
Best pressure washer for 2022
Home maintenance can seem like a tedious and never-ending job, from taking care of plumbing, electrical and paint inside to weeding and mowing the lawn outside. A major part of home maintenance is cleaning the outside of your home to keep it looking fresh. Thankfully, with the right tools, these jobs can be much simpler. A pressure washer can wipe away impurities on the hard surfaces outside of your home, including your driveway or patio table. While there are electric pressure washers that can get the job done, these gas-powered washers can do heavy-duty cleaning for all residential needs. I tested these washers and rated the top three for best overall, most durable, and best value. For a pressure washer to work well, it needs to have a pressure of at least 2,000 psi. I tested washers with psi in the upper 2,000 to mid 3,000s. One washer had a 4,200 psi for a comparable price. The washers I tested are all gas-powered pressure washer models. Most electric pressure washer … [Read more...] about Best pressure washer for 2022
