Comedienne Chelsea Handler has claimed to have believed the sun and the moon were the same celestial entities until the age of 40 when her sister corrected her. Handler, age 47, made her startling admission to late-night host Jimmy Fallon ahead of her hosting the Critics Choice Awards show this past Sunday. Handler gave no clarification as to whether or not she was joking, revealing she believed well past her 30s the sun and moon were both the same. “This is true. I didn’t know until I was 40 years old that the sun and the moon were not the same thing,” Handler said. Handler said her epiphany came while she and her sister were riding elephants in Africa. “My older sister Simone looked up at the sky, and she said, ‘Chelsea, look up. It’s not often you get to see the sun and the moon at the same time,'” Handler recalled of the moment. “I was like Scooby Doo. I’m like, ‘Ruh, what?'” “I go, ‘Wait, but they’re always together,’ and as soon as I said that, she turned around and … [Read more...] about Chelsea Handler Claims She Thought the Sun and Moon Were the Same Until Age 40

Apple TV Plus just revealed its 2023 lineup – and it’s finally made me a believer
Audio player loading… Congratulations, Apple. It took you over three years, but you've finally convinced me to sign up to your streaming service. Despite its back catalog of critically acclaimed shows and movies, including 2022 Best Picture Oscar winner CODA , I've never felt compelled to purchase an Apple TV Plus subscription. Maybe it's because some of the world's best streaming services , such as Netflix, provide much more content, which makes my money go further. However, Apple TV Plus' recently announced 2023 lineup – or, rather, most of its forthcoming slate – has persuaded me to stump up its $6.99 / £6.99 monthly fee. So, which of Apple's in-house productions are swaying me into parting with my hard-earned cash? For starters, Ted Lasso season 3 . The wildly popular soccer comedy series, which is universally considered one of the best Apple TV Plus shows ever, has been trapped in development hell for a long time. Finally, though, there's … [Read more...] about Apple TV Plus just revealed its 2023 lineup – and it’s finally made me a believer
Samsung Unpacked as it happened: Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, S23 Ultra and Galaxy Book3
Refresh 2023-02-01T21:02:44.127Z Adobe Lightroom is powering the RAW photo work We got word from Adobe that Lightroom would be handling the RAW image processing in the Expert RAW app available for the Galaxy S23 phones. We were curious what that meant, so we got clarification, and the deal isn't as great as it seems. Basically, if you want to use all of the feature of Adobe Lightroom, you have to pay for it. It's a great app, I personally pay for it. Samsung buyers will get two months free, then you need to pay. If you don't pay, you get very limited editing options. You don't get the amazing healing brush and selective adjustment tools. It's better than nothing, but it isn't the Lightroom experience that I'd hope was bundled with such a premium phone. In any case, it's worth using Lightroom if you're shooting in RAW, and we're excited to try all of the new photo tools available on the Galaxy S23 family. 2023-02-01T20:42:18.224Z It's easy to find the … [Read more...] about Samsung Unpacked as it happened: Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, S23 Ultra and Galaxy Book3
SpaceX’s Inspiration4 mission is all anyone can talk about in this week’s science news
Audio player loading… What else is there to say? This week was all about the lead-up to and successful launch of SpaceX's historic all-civilian Inspiration4 space mission . The excitement for the launch had been palpable all last week and weekend, making the day-by-day countdown and the spectacular launch itself that much more thrilling. You've probably heard by now that the Inpiration4 crew is currently orbiting the Earth at an distance of 363 miles (585 km), but they didn't just radio back their report. The newly-minted astronauts took photos of the Crew Dragon Resilience capsule's massive cupola – the largest-ever single window in space – giving Inspiration4 a spectacular 360-degree view of outer space and Earth. This wasn't the only SpaceX launch this week, with SpaceX sending up another round of Starlink satellites to start the week and continue to build its global satellite broadband network, which can't come quickly enough. To help get those and other … [Read more...] about SpaceX’s Inspiration4 mission is all anyone can talk about in this week’s science news
Hidden galaxies, a doomed Mars, and plenty of supernovae drive the week in science
Audio player loading… In another week of space-filled science coverage, we got plenty of supernovae, one in the form of a long-standing science mystery and the other an unexpected discovery. We learned more about the institutional shake-up over at NASA as it reorganizes itself in preparation of a major push toward the Artemis moon mission – thanks in very large part to the success of SpaceX. This week also revealed two of the oldest galaxies in the universe, shrouded behind an nearly impenetrable wall of cosmic dust, and their discovery is upending what we know about the earliest moments of the universe's existence. Finally, we also learned in a new study of Martian meteorites that the Red Planet was condemned to become a barren desert planet before it even really finished forming, with implications for our search for life elsewhere in the galaxy. Mars was always going to die Mars was doomed from the start Let's get the bad news out of the way first: … [Read more...] about Hidden galaxies, a doomed Mars, and plenty of supernovae drive the week in science
This unbelievable Xiaomi camera phone feature will make you regret your iPhone
Audio player loading… People often call iPhones the best camera phones out there. I don't necessarily agree, which is why the Galaxy S22 Ultra tops our rankings, but Apple's mobiles are definitely in the conversation. However, Xiaomi phones have one photography feature that's so cool, I can't stop using it. It's called Sky, and it's an editing mode that you use for pictures you've already taken. Basically, the phone uses AI to work out what the sky looks like in the picture - and then it lets you choose between loads of different alternative skies that it edits in. Some of these are general daytime ones, such as clear skies, different cloud formations and different weather effects - there are also twilight skies, with different sunsets and sunrises, and night-time skies with stars, cosmic bodies, the aurora borealis and more. Not only does the phone change the sky in the image, but it also provides tweaks to the rest of the snap to fit with these edits - for … [Read more...] about This unbelievable Xiaomi camera phone feature will make you regret your iPhone

NASA’s James Webb Telescope confirms its first exoplanet
In a nutshell: Researchers from Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory have confirmed an exoplanet using NASA's James Webb Space Telescope for the first time. The team, led by Kevin Stevenson and Jacob Lustig-Yaeger, selected LHS 475 b after carefully reviewing targets from NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). LHS 475 b is located 41 light-years away in the constellation Octans. Webb's Near-Infrared Spectrograph (NIRSpec) was able to capture the exoplanet with only two transit observations on August 31, 2022. Data confirmed the exoplanet is an Earth-sized terrestrial planet measuring 99 percent of Earth's diameter. What the team doesn't yet know is whether or not the planet has an atmosphere. (As this spectrum shows, Webb did not observe a detectable quantity of any element or molecule. The data (white dots) are consistent with a featureless spectrum representative of a planet that has no atmosphere (yellow line). The purple line represents a pure carbon … [Read more...] about NASA’s James Webb Telescope confirms its first exoplanet
Best free games 2023: play big and save bigger
Free games was once a dirty word in PC gaming, but the best free games have matured considerably since the downright scammy pay-to-win shovelware of the past few years. Those kinds of games are still around, of course, but that's not all there is anymore. Some of the best PC games you can play right now are also free to play, and they've changed the landscape considerably. Whether it's MMORPGs like Final Fantasy XIV and EVE Online, addictive card games like Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, or arena battle royales like Apex Legends , there's are more high-quality free games out there than ever before. While a lot of newer titles have demanding system requirements, not all do, and they can easily be played on less powerful hardware than you'd need for, say, Cyberpunk 2077 . A number of these have been sitting on our best PC games and best Mac games lists for a while now, and we couldn't be happier to enjoy some of the best PC gaming has to offer without having to buy it … [Read more...] about Best free games 2023: play big and save bigger
