March 30, 2018 - Written By Dominik Bosnjak The Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact have the best battery life among most of the latest Android flagships that money can currently buy, Strategy Analytics said earlier this week following a study it was asked to do by Sony but ended up conducting independently. According to the research firm’s findings, the Xperia XZ2 can survive over 36 hours on a single charge in a “typical user scenario,” with the Xperia XZ2 Compact being estimated to last for 34 hours and 20 minutes under identical circumstances. The LG G6, Huawei P10, and the Apple iPhone X were all found to hover above the 32-hour mark in the same test, with the Samsung Galaxy S9 being far behind them, scoring less than 27 hours on a single charge. The OPPO R11 was found to have the weakest battery life among all smartphones tested by the company, with Strategy Analytics concluding users can only expect around 16 and a half hours on a single charge in everyday … [Read more...] about Sony Xperia XZ2 Has Best Battery Life Among 2018 Flagships: SA
For more than five years, Sony’s smartphone lineup has more or less remained the same. Compared to other competing smartphones, the company’s offerings always trailed behind in design, overall hardware features, and other popular smartphone trends like near bezel-less displays, dual cameras, and QHD resolution screens. They were good phones, but they were unexciting and almost always priced too high for what they offered compared to the competition. Factors like the fingerprint sensor being unavailable in the U.S. and a lack of carrier support made them even more unappealing. Now it looks like Sony is finally starting to make some significant changes. Is it too little too late? We won’t be able to fully answer that question until Sony’s flagship Xperia XZ2 hits the market, but its new mid-range smartphone might give us a glimpse into Sony’s future. This is the Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra review. Design Sony’s previous design grew stale rather fast but the … [Read more...] about Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra review: It’s about time
Sony’s latest A7 cameras represent the vanguard of the mirrorless camera movement because they’re the most accessible full-frame systems on the market. The A7 III and A7R III are smaller, lighter, and more durable than their DSLR counterparts, and have narrowed the gaps in image quality, performance, and lens selections. These two new cameras are directly related to Sony’s flagship released last year: the sporty $4,500 A9. In fact, everything from EVF design, to the grip, controls, SD card slots, and software are derived in some form from their big brother, the A9. The A9 has all of Sony’s bells and whistles, but it comes with a price tag to match. The new A7 models, however, bring many of the A9’s advancements down to more pedestrian price levels. These are certainly still professional level cameras — the A7 III runs for $1,999 without a lens, while the higher-resolution A7R III commands $3,199 — but the difference in price from the A9 leaves … [Read more...] about Sony A7 III and A7R III review: mirrorless magic
There aren't many Android TV boxes you can plug into your TV, but there are a number of TVs with Android TV built-in. Sony makes a well-reviewed 49-inch TV with Google's software, and you can get a good deal on it today, assuming you want to buy some stuff from Dell. Pick up the TV, and you can get a $300 Dell gift card. The TV (XBR49X900E) retails for $950 most places, and the Dell price is only a few bucks cheaper at $947.99. However, that's not the "deal" part of the deal. Buy that TV from Dell, and you'll get a $300 gift card to use on Dell's store. The code will arrive in your email inbox within 20 days of buying, and you need to use it within 90 days of that. As for the TV itself, it's a 4K set with HDR support. It's one of Netflix's recommended TVs, too. The Android TV software gives you access to all the usual streaming apps, along with Chromecast support. It has 4.2 stars on Amazon, and Rtings gave it an 8.2/10. You can't use the emailed gift card on the TV, obviously. If … [Read more...] about [Deal Alert] Get a $300 Dell gift card with purchase of 49-inch Sony Android TV
Sony's Xperia phones don't get much love here in the States, and depending on who you ask, that's either a shame or well-deserved. As such, you'll either feel indifferent or ecstatic to learn that the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact are now both available for pre-order in the U.S. These are the two Android phones that Sony showed off at MWC in February, and they're some of the most exciting entries we've seen with the Xperia line in years. If you're interested in reserving either of the phones for yourself, B&H appears to be the only retailer that's taking pre-orders for the phones right now. The Xperia XZ2 will set you back $799.99, whereas the smaller XZ2 Compact is going for $649.99. All color options are available, including Green, Black, Silver, and Pink. Shipping is free, but in regards to a release date, B&H simply states that the devices are "coming soon." Europe's official launch is scheduled for April 5, and assuming the U.S. follows shortly after, you shouldn't have to … [Read more...] about Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact now up for pre-order in the U.S.
