While we’re all expecting Sony to announce the Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, and Z3 Compact Tablet later this week at IFA 2014, the Berlin trade show may also be the place where the company will showcase a smartphone that we haven’t heard of until now.According to 9to5Google, the Z3 line will be accompanied by an Xperia E3, which should be a relatively affordable handset. The E3 will be the successor to Sony’s Xperia E and Xperia E1 (seen above). Reportedly, its features include a 4.8-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels, 1.5 GB (or 2 GB) of RAM, and a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. Android 4.4 KitKat will most probably be on board. It’s said that the E3 might cost between $200 and $300, and, unlike the devices included in the Z3 series, it won’t be water-resistant. All in all, it looks like Sony will have quite many things to show us at IFA. Alongside new smartphones and tablets, the company may also announce a SmartWatch 3 and a … [Read more...] about Sony Xperia E3 to join the Z3 at IFA 2014 this week?
Sony xperia e3
As our tests from last month have shown, Sony’s Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact both offer record battery life in their respective categories (see here and here). As it turns out, the more affordable Xperia E3 is also a battery champ: according to Sony, the E3 “matches the same two day battery life standards” of the Z3 couple.Of course, the Xperia E3 doesn’t have a power-hungry processor, and neither a high-resolution display, but at the same time its battery capacity is smaller (2330 mAh). Sony started selling the Xperia E3 last month, asking about $200 for it. The handset runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and has four color versions: black, white, yellow, and copper (though it isn’t widely available yet). The E3 sports a 4.5-inch display with 480 x 854 pixels, further featuring LTE connectivity, a 5 MP rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, and 1 GB of RAM. There’s only 4 GB of internal memory, but, thankfully, you can … [Read more...] about Sony says the Xperia E3 offers the same great battery life of the Z3 and Z3 Compact
Earlier this month, when Sony announced the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact, it also introduced a less advanced handset, namely the Xperia E3. As it turns out, the E3 is the first among the three new smartphones to become available. Starting this week, the Xperia E3 can be bought in India. The single SIM version of the handset costs about $196 (11,990 INR), while the dual SIM one is priced at about $200. Running Android 4.4 KitKat, the Sony Xperia E3 sports a 4.5-inch IPS display with 480 x 854 pixels and a pretty low 218 ppi density. Other features include LTE connectivity, 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, VGA front-facing camera, quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of internal memory, and microSD card support. The new handset weighs 144 grams, measures 137.1 x 69.4 x 8.5 mm, and includes a 2330 mAh battery. While the Xperia E3 will likely not be released in the US, it’s going to be launched in Europe in the near future. For example, it’s expected … [Read more...] about Sony’s affordable Xperia E3 is now available to buy (only in India for the moment)
Sony already unveiled its new Xperia lineup of devices at IFA 2014, comprising the Xperia Z3 flagship, the Xperia Z3 Compact munchkin, the 8” Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, but alongside them the budget-friendly Xperia E3 also made a debut. We had the fortunate chance to spend some time with it and see how it feels like at our fingertips. It's hands-on time!DesignDesign-wise, you can see which Sony device has inspired the design of the E3 right off the bat - of course, we are talking about the new Xperia Z3. That said, the Xperia E3 comes with typical Sony design, with the rounded-edge style of the current Xperia flagship, but unlike it, we can't say that the E3 is a beautiful device. Then again, being nothing else but an affordable mid-ranger, the Xperia E3 comes sans the premium build materials of the top-end Xperia Z3 and relies on regular, matte plastic, which definitely feels cheap. From the looks of it, one might judge that the Xperia E3 comes with front-facing stereo … [Read more...] about Sony Xperia E3 hands-on
