“The cloud” has become an overused buzzword, but it’s hard to deny the impact services like Dropbox, Google Drive, and iCloud Drive have had on us. Upload files once, and they remain available from each and every device, ready to share with others from anywhere there’s an Internet connection. As convenient and ubiquitous as cloud services may be, many users are rightfully apprehensive about putting sensitive documents—not to mention music files, photos, videos, and more—where they could potentially be accessed by prying eyes.Your own cloudTack App by StoAmigo takes a slightly different approach to the cloud. After installing the app on your Mac and PC, files and folders stored there can be accessed remotely from any web browser or the StoAmigo mobile app for iOS or Android. Oculus Rift headsets knocked offline due to software error
Oculus Rift owners around the globe were sidelined from the virtual world on Wednesday due to a software error that may be related to an expired certificate. Oculus acknowledged the issue on Twitter and said it is working to fix the problem. As of writing, however, gamers are still waiting for answers. According to multiple reports on the Oculus forums, trying to launch the Oculus software generates a runtime service error. The dialog box suggests waiting a minute and trying again but of course, it’s never that simple. Sleuths quickly determined that an expired certificate is the likely cause of the outage. As difficult as it may be, the best advice at this time is to simply hang tight and wait for Oculus to resolve the matter with a software update. I know, that … [Read more...] about Oculus Rift headsets knocked offline due to software error
How To Move Oculus Content Between Libraries (Thanks To Software Update 1.24)
Oculus has begun rolling out version 1.24 of the Rift desktop software. The latest update enables you to move installed software from one Oculus library to another. Oculus said the update also offers performance enhancements for Core 2.0 users. Last year, at Oculus Connect 4, Oculus announced that it would not be releasing an updated Rift headset in 2018. The company would instead be focusing on improving its software platform and user experience. The original Oculus Home software enabled you to access and purchase content, and you could maintain a friends list, but it wasn’t exactly a feature-rich package. Obvious features, such as customizable environments and the ability to join the games that your friends are playing, weren't available upon the Rift’s launch. In December, Oculus rolled out the first iteration of the Oculus Core 2.0 platform, which addresses many of the original platform’s shortcomings, including the friends list and customizable environments. … [Read more...] about How To Move Oculus Content Between Libraries (Thanks To Software Update 1.24)

Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.3.1 will support Final Fantasy XV and Warhammer: Vermintide II when the games arrive on March 6 and 8, respectively. The new Radeon driver also improves performance in DOTA 2, with up to 6% faster framerates (over the previously available 17.12.1 driver) using RX 580 graphics cards at 3840 x 2160. Several fixes are also included with the updated software, including intermittent hangs and crashes in Sea of Thieves, texture flickering on trees or hills using multi-GPU enabled systems in Middle-earth: Shadow of War, and color corruption when changing some game settings with a multi-GPU setup in World of Tanks.
