The Galaxy Note Edge was the very first phone with an edge display way back in 2014. It’s single-edge design never really took off, but Samsung refined the concept the following year, introducing a dual-edge design with the Galaxy S6 Edge. Since then, the curved screen has become standard on Samsung’s flagship smartphones – even if the edge has become a bit less obvious in the last few iterations. Samsung isn’t the only manufacturer to make phones with edge displays, either. Companies like Huawei and Nokia have followed the tech giant’s footsteps, though their devices haven’t grabbed as much attention as the Galaxy S and Note lines.Curved displays give smartphones a futuristic vibe, but they don’t provide much added functionality. They can also crack more easily when dropped on a hard surface. If you’re not scared by that, keep reading — you’ll find the best phones with edge displays below.Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus The … [Read more...] about Best phones with edge displays — what are your options?

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus review notes: I’ve been using the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus on Google Fi in the U.S., Spain, and Portugal for 13 days. Our Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is running Android 9 Pie and Samsung One UI version 1.1 on the February 1, 2019 Android security patch. We’ll refrain from adding review scores until we can put the device through our full suite of tests. The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus review unit was provided to Android Authority by Samsung. Full disclosure, Samsung also took us to Montserrat, Spain for a day to test out the camera and video capabilities, but my thoughts on the camera capabilities are mine and mine alone. We originally held off publishing this review because of a number of software updates Samsung said would be coming soon, and as of now we have received a biometric fingerprint reader update and an update to Bixby which allows remapping of the Bixby key. Another update which adds things like Instagram Mode to the camera is coming closer to … [Read more...] about Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus review: Almost apex
We'll see the Galaxy S10 in less than two weeks -- but Samsung may have a hard time electrifying the crowd at its Feb. 20 Unpacked event. After all, we just know so much. Sure, the official facts are few -- the new phone will be called the Galaxy S10 and it'll run the company's One UI on top of Android. But we think we know just about everything else, given the gushing flood of highly detailed images and videos that have leaked over the past week. Now playing: Watch this: Info on the budget Samsung Galaxy S10 trickles out 4:32 The company made the Galaxy S10 name official in a statement last week that also outlined a dramatic drop in sales and profits. T-Mobile updated its Advanced Messaging support page today, the same page that lists out details for RCS Universal Profile 1.0, the messaging standard that may one day be the future of messaging on your phone. In the update, they provided a list of supported devices, two of which had not previously been mentioned as gaining RCS Universal Profile 1.0 support on T-Mobile. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy Note 9 are now list as being supported with RCS Universal Profile 1.0. They join the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, which were the first two devices to gain support, as well as the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy S8 Active. The S8 line picked up support at the end of October through a software update. We reached out to T-Mobile to confirm and they said that the “devices listed all support RCS Universal Profile 1.0.” I’m assuming the Note 9 and Note 8 will still need a software update to enable it, but if they are listing them as supported, it should arrive shortly. What … [Read more...] about T-Mobile Galaxy Note 9, Note 8 Get RCS Universal Profile 1.0 Support
The Samsung Galaxy S10 series isn’t set to go official until MWC 2019 in February. But despite this being almost five months away, the South Korean giant has already submitted the three main models for testing in China.According to the listings, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT) received the smartphones on September 25. These bear the model numbers SM-G9700, SM-G9730, and SM-G9750, which coincide perfectly with previous leaks. Moreover, it’s worth noting that the extra zero on the end confirms Samsung has developed these specific variants for the Chinese market.Unsurprisingly, no details are provided about the smartphones other than the fact that they support GSM, CDMA, and LTE networks. However, previous leaks have suggested that both the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Lite will make use of 5.8-inch displays. The Galaxy S10+, on the other hand, will boast a much larger 6.44-inch screen. As expected, all three panels will be of an OLED nature. … [Read more...] about Three Samsung Galaxy S10 models have just been certified in China
