Vitamin A: Sources, benefits & deficiency

August 10, 2022 by www.livescience.com Leave a Comment

Vitamins are crucial for building, repairing and maintaining healthy tissues and cells, and vitamin A is particularly important for vision, skin and bones. Also known as retinol (because it produces the pigments in the retina of the eye), vitamin A is a fat-soluble nutrient. This means it’s absorbed into the body with dietary fat, and then stored in body tissue for later use. Taking big doses of vitamin A can be toxic, but your body only converts as much as it needs. You can get vitamin A naturally from foods or take it in supplement form. It has several functions, from helping the body’s immune system to fight against illness and infection, to supporting healthy vision, teeth, skin and skeletal and soft tissue. Good sources of vitamin A include cheese, eggs, oily fish, milk, yogurt and liver (although you should avoid liver if pregnant). You can also get vitamin A by consuming plant sources of beta-carotene – found in leafy veg and yellow fruit such as mango, papaya and apricots … [Read more...] about Vitamin A: Sources, benefits & deficiency

What has Broadcom become?

August 10, 2022 by www.techspot.com Leave a Comment

Editor's take: Broadcom was once a leading semiconductor company, and then it started buying enterprise software companies. The finance people recognize Broadcom for it is, and while the technology people recognize it as well, they just do not want to accept it. And we cannot blame them for that sentiment. Broadcom began its existence as a spin-off of a spin-off. Twenty years or so ago, Hewlett Packard began its process of miniaturization. First spinning off Agilent which contained a hodgepodge of businesses that were not related to PCs or printers. Agilent in turn split itself into several more pieces, one of which was HP's one-time internal chip business, rechristened as Avago. We followed Avago closely for many years as sell-side analysts. Buried deep inside HP, we knew it sold filters that went into mobile phones and would occasionally provide some really interesting, but obscure piece of information. Then the spin-off happened. Editor's Note: Jonathan Goldberg is the … [Read more...] about What has Broadcom become?

«Stranger Things» sesong 4 volume 2 fikk Netflix-serverne ned i knestående

July 1, 2022 by global.techradar.com Leave a Comment

July 20, 2022 by global.techradar.com Leave a Comment

[Read more...] about Den dårligste Marvel-filmen får etter sigende en oppfølger

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is official, brings Android 12L’s new taskbar

August 10, 2022 by arstechnica.com Leave a Comment

It's time for a new round of Samsung foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are official . Both devices hit stores on August 26, and the prices haven't changed from last year: It's $1,799 for the Fold 4 and $999 for the Flip 4 . The Z Fold 4—the one that opens up like a tablet—is getting a few millimeters wider this year, and it has a 6.2-inch, 120 Hz, 2316×904 outer OLED display. The Z Fold 3's outer display had a skinny 25:9 aspect ratio, but the Fold 4's is at 23.1:9, getting closer to a normal 19:9 aspect ratio. The inner display is wider, too—it's a 7.6-inch, 2176×1812, 120 Hz OLED display. The device's thickness hasn't really changed—when open, the phone is 6.3 mm thick, and it's 15.8 mm thick when folded up, thanks to the hinge gap. Other specs include a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 4400 mAh battery with 25 W charging. Samsung puts the dust and water ingress rating at "IPX8," meaning there's no dust resistance, but the device is … [Read more...] about The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is official, brings Android 12L’s new taskbar

Design in the Age of Digital Twins: A Conversation With Graphics-Pioneer Donald Greenberg

August 10, 2022 by blogs.nvidia.com Leave a Comment

Asked about the future of design, Donald Greenberg holds up a model of a human aorta. “After my son became an intravascular heart surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic, he hired one of my students to use CAT scans and create digital 3D models of an aortic aneurysm,” said the computer graphics pioneer in a video interview from his office at Cornell University. The models enabled custom stents that fit so well patients could leave the hospital soon after they’re inserted. It’s one example Greenberg gives of how computer graphics are becoming part of every human enterprise. A Whole New Chapter Expanding the frontier, he’s creating new tools for an architecture design course based on today’s capabilities for building realistic 3D worlds and digital twins . It will define a holistic process so everyone from engineers to city planners can participate in a design. The courseware is still at the concept stage, but his passion for it is palpable. “This is my next big project, and I’m … [Read more...] about Design in the Age of Digital Twins: A Conversation With Graphics-Pioneer Donald Greenberg
