Your Apple TV streaming device just lost a popular video platform
Audio player loading… Your Apple TV has just one of its applications as Facebook Watch – a version of the social media platform dedicated to TV, videos, and live streams – is no longer supported by tvOS . As first spotted by 9to5Mac (opens in new tab) , when Apple TV 4K users try to access Facebook Watch they'll get a message saying, “The Facebook Watch TV app is no longer available, but you can still find lots of videos on Facebook at www.facebook.com/watch.” Interestingly though the app is still available to download on the tvOS App Store. Plus, at the time of writing “Apple TV (4th generation or newer)” is still listed on the Facebook Watch TV app’s official list of supported devices (opens in new tab) . Because of this, it's unclear if Meta has decided to abandon Apple TV for good or if this is merely a bug causing the error message to appear. While Facebook Watch isn't thought of in the same vein as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video it … [Read more...] about Your Apple TV streaming device just lost a popular video platform
Now Comcast’s Xfinity Stream app with live TV and DVR content is available on Apple TV
Comcast’s Xfinity Stream app replaced the old Xfinity TV setup in 2017 , allowing cable TV subscribers (who haven’t cut the cord yet) to pull up live channels, DVR content, and on-demand video, and now it’s available in the App Store on Apple TV boxes. Comcast and Apple announced a deal last October to make this happen , as well as an Apple TV Plus app for Comcast’s X1 platform, which launched in March for compatible cable boxes, Xfinity Flex, and XClass Smart TVs. Other platforms with the Xfinity Stream app include Roku, Amazon Fire, LG smart TVs, and Samsung smart TVs. Comcast senior VP of strategic development Michael DelCiello said in a statement that “With today’s launch of the Stream app on Apple TV, our customers now have a new device option for accessing their Xfinity TV subscription in the home, and they will be the first to enjoy a new, streamlined UI designed to make it easier to find something to watch – whether that means getting back to a favorite show or movie, … [Read more...] about Now Comcast’s Xfinity Stream app with live TV and DVR content is available on Apple TV
apple tv: Meta discontinues Facebook Watch video app on Apple TV
Meta has discontinued Facebook Watch , an app for streaming Facebook videos, TV shows and livestreams, on Apple TV . Apple TV users will no longer have access to Facebook Watch as it has discontinued the app for tvOS, reports 9to5Mac. "The Facebook Watch TV app is no longer available, but you can still find lots of videos on Facebook at www.facebook.com/watch," a user shared the notification. Since tvOS lacks a web browser, there's no other way to watch Facebook videos on Apple TV, except by using AirPlay from another device, the report said. Facebook announced Watch app for videos on Apple TV in 2017, after first rolling it out on Samsung smart TVs. The app is also available on various other smart TVs and consoles, as well as on Facebook's mobile app and desktop site. "On Facebook Watch, you can discover videos and original shows on subjects like sports, news, beauty, food and entertainment," according to the company. To watch these … [Read more...] about apple tv: Meta discontinues Facebook Watch video app on Apple TV

soundbars: The 5 Best Soundbars to Improve Your TV-Watching Experience
A soundbar can dramatically improve your TV-watching experience by providing much better audio quality than the built-in speakers. Soundbars also tend to be much more affordable than a full surround-sound system. They are much easier to set up too. If you're looking for a soundbar for your TV, you should keep a few things in mind. First, consider your room size and how much power you need. Smaller rooms can get away with a less powerful soundbar, but if you have a large room or want to hear your TV from across the house, you'll need a more powerful model. It would be best to consider what inputs you need as well. Most soundbars have at least one digital input (usually optical), but some also have analog inputs, USB ports, and Bluetooth. If you want to be able to stream music from your phone or tablet wirelessly, make sure the soundbar you're considering has Bluetooth. Finally, take a look at the included subwoofer. Some soundbars come with a subwoofer, others do … [Read more...] about soundbars: The 5 Best Soundbars to Improve Your TV-Watching Experience

ExpressVPN review: Pricey, but speedy and great for streaming
Editors' note, Feb. 9, 2022 : As of December 2021, ExpressVPN is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Kape Technologies, a company that has raised significant privacy concerns for us in the past. We're carefully reevaluating ExpressVPN to determine the implications that its new ownership may have on users' privacy. ExpressVPN has muscled its way ahead of the virtual private network pack in 2020, offering outstanding speeds and a reputation for reliability and security. Its easy-to-navigate interface makes it an apt choice for newcomers just learning about VPNs, and its multiplatform compatibility expands its value to a wide base of consumers. These factors more than justify ExpressVPN's slightly higher-than-average prices, starting at $6.67 a month. We recommend ExpressVPN as an excellent choice for privacy novices and professionals alike. Find out more about how we review VPNs here .
