Thieves strike Palo Alto Apple Store, two days in a row

By Stephen Silver Wednesday, September 26, 2018, 12:50 pm PT (03:50 pm ET) Days after Tim Cook appeared at the opening of the Palo Alto location for the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max launch, the store was robbed Saturday afternoon, and then again the following morning. The recent epidemic of Apple Store thefts throughout California have reached the location in Steve Jobs' hometown of Palo Alto- the day after CEO Tim Cook appeared at the store for the launch of the new iPhones. On Saturday afternoon, according to Palo Alto Online, a group of eight young men took "new demo iPhones" as well as iPads, before fleeing in multiple cars. Then, in a separate theft discovered early the following morning, someone shattered the store's front door and made off with another $50,000 worth of iPhones and iPads, the site said. Apple CEO Tim Cook opens Palo Alto Apple Store for iPhone XS launch

By Malcolm Owen Friday, September 21, 2018, 08:36 am PT (11:36 am ET) Apple CEO Tim Cook made an appearance at an Apple Store in Palo Alto, California, helping to open the store and welcoming the first people from the queue into the store to pick up their iPhone XS order. A regular occurrence for the CEO, Tim Cook stood inside the glass doors of the Apple Store just before opening time, reports CNBC. While the doors opened, a countdown was performed by staff, then cheers erupted as the first people in the queue made their way into the store. Cook himself stepped outside the storefront to greet the initial customers, shaking their hands and sharing a few words, as well as taking selfies. A few minutes later, Cook returned inside the store to continue meeting attendees. Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia buys out Four Seasons in East Palo Alto for visit

EAST PALO ALTO, Calif. (KGO) -- This past weekend, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia stopped traffic and turned heads on his trip to Seattle. Now, he's in the Bay Area, and apparently staying at the Four Seasons in East Palo Alto to talk with Silicon Valley's biggest hitters.The last remaining guests were checked out of the Four Seasons Hotel in East Palo Alto. Some hadn't planned to leave so soon. ABC7 News has learned the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Bin Salman bought out the entire hotel for the next six nights.Hotel staff told ABC7 News off camera that guests have been relocated to neighboring hotels or other Four Seasons properties.The hotel was given short notice of the royal visit from the U.S. State Department, just last week.Those who work near the hotel have been warned to watch out for motorcades."There's a prince who purchased the hotel for the whole week," said investment banker Anu Deshpande.
