In the company's blog post (opens in new tab) , Microsoft described the investment as the "third phase of our long-term partnership" with OpenAI, promising to advance the technology and make it available to everyone globally. According to Bloomberg (opens in new tab) ( paywall), Google SEO Sundar Pichai sent an email to staff on Friday to notify them of the incoming redundancies, which will account for around 6% of the company's entire staff. It follows from earlier this month, when Alphabet, the parent company to Google, announced cuts to Verily and Intrinsic, their health and robotic software divisions respectively. Artificial intelligence research startup Open AI released the AI chatbot named ChatGPT in November 2022. This chatbot went viral since its release as it can produce complete texts and ideas for any topic. It includes offering ‘human-like’ explanations of complex concepts, writing code, poems and more. A week ago, the company announced its plans to monetise this open-to-all chatbot. Now, Open AI has already started rolling out a premium version of ChatGPT, known as ‘ ChatGPT Professional ’. The paid version of the popular AI chatbot will be available at $42 per month.
