More often than not, your best choice for a screen protector is a tempered glass option, but phones with curved edges like the Note 8 can cause issues. It's common for users to report problems during installation and issues dealing with precise fit and the adhesive not sticking. In the end, it comes down to whether you believe a screen protector is a crucial accessory and then determining whether you want to spend more for a tempered glass screen protector, or take time to properly install a screen protector made of flexible film material. These are your best options for both. Protecting an expensive new phone makes sense to us, but we always hear from those who swear they don't need a screen protector. We'd recommend the Whitestone Dome Glass Tempered Glass screen protector because it's proven to be a reliable product that's specifically designed to address the challenges of protecting curved screen devices. This post may contain affiliate links. Note 8 issues
Update, 01/24/19, 06:29 AM ET: It appears Samsung is now rolling out the second Android Pie beta update to the Galaxy Note 8 after launching the beta on January 15. Sam Mobile spotted the 705MB update and its patch notes suggest fixes for a slew of initial software bugs. The update addresses an issue which sometimes crashed the camera app when using slow motion or super slow motion, while a couple of errors regarding microSD card saving have also been solved. However, there’s a known issue regarding the People Edge function of the Edge panel that’s still yet to be fixed. Samsung recommends you turn this feature off for now. SamMobile We still don’t have a precise timeframe for the final software build will roll out, but I’d expect another beta update or two before Samsung is finished. We’ll let you know when we learn more. If you haven’t yet been prompted about the update, head to Settings > Software update > Software manual … [Read more...] about Second Android 9 Pie beta available now for Samsung Galaxy Note 8
Samsung has just released a new Android Pie beta update for the Galaxy Note 8. This is the first update since the beta was launched a week ago and comes with software version N950FXXU5ZSAB. There are a number of bug fixes included in the update, which comes in at a sizeable 705 MB (thanks to the lack of Project Treble on the Note 8). We’re assuming the Galaxy S8 will also be getting this update, but we can’t confirm that at the moment. The update fixes a few issues with the camera app, such as force closures when trying to use the slow motion modes and the camera viewfinder appearing blurry and not responding to touches. The other fixes seem to be for downloading files to the microSD card, including issues such as music on the microSD card not being detected or files downloaded in Samsung Internet to the external storage not actually being saved. The update also deals with a serious issue that would freeze the screen after the user puts in the secret PIN to unlock the … [Read more...] about Galaxy Note 8 getting second Android Pie beta update
More Samsung customers can now volunteer for the Android 9 Pie beta program as the initiative just expanded to the Galaxy Note 8. By taking part, they will get to use the latest version of the Android operating system as Samsung adapted it for its devices, known as One UI, before the company starts rolling out a stable build of the software to everyone. The tech giant announced its latest beta program through the Samsung Members application, and at this point, it seems that the company only expanded the effort to India and South Korea. Before signing up, users should be aware of some known issues still being part of the package, which includes forced closure of the camera application, some unusable imaging features, and VPN certificate issues as these tend to go missing. Backing up one's device before downloading the update is also a recommended practice. The beta build of Samsung's new Android OS version comes with a number of improvements over Samsung Experience 9.5 and is also … [Read more...] about Samsung Brings Android Pie Beta To Galaxy Note 8
Could Samsung be working on a surprise release of Android Pie to all of its Galaxy S and Galaxy Note flagships (the eligible ones) in January? Well, that’s what we’d like to think. The Wi-Fi Alliance has certified the Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S9, Galaxy Note 9, and even the Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition with Android Pie on-board. It’s rather early for these certifications – the Galaxy S7 got its Oreo certification in April, a month or so after the official Galaxy S8 Oreo update had been widely released!Of course, this may just be Samsung starting work on Android Pie early because of the new user interface. Samsung’s One UI is a big refresh for the company’s Android phones, so it would make sense for more comprehensive testing to ensure that the Pie update doesn’t have any major issues after release. The problems Oreo had despite months of beta testing are still fresh in our minds, after all. And rather than start a beta program for more … [Read more...] about Galaxy S9, S8, Note 9, Note 8, Note 7 FE Wi-Fi-certified with Android Pie!
