October 8, 2018 - Written By Daniel Golightly In short: Invites to try out Assassin’s Creed Odyssey over a streaming connection in Google’s Chrome browser are now reportedly rolling out for those who signed up through the search giant’s Project Stream initiative. Chrome users who see the invite will receive a one-time use setup code that solely applies to the Google login it is used for and only works with a single account. Those who take advantage of the invite will also need to log into or create a Ubisoft account to get started but will be receiving $10 of in-game currency for their participation. More invites will continue rolling out over the next couple of months. Background: Although Google has been rumored to have a streaming gaming solution in the works since at least June, Project Stream only just announced earlier this month. The former of those is expected to be a three-pronged approach involving a game platform, streaming, and hardware similar … [Read more...] about Google Project Stream Assassin’s Creed Invites Rolling Out Now

October 1, 2018 - Written By Alexander Maxham In short: Google announced today that it is launching Project Stream which is a partnership with Ubisoft where Google will be streaming it’s newest game (still unreleased) Assassin’s Creed Odyssey through the Chrome browser. This is part of Google taking streaming to the next level, and being able to stream a full game – especially one like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – is a pretty big deal. Google says that beginning October 5, a limited number of people will be able to play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at no charge, during the testing phase of Project Stream. As expected, being able to stream a game that uses so many high-quality graphics, and keeping the interaction between the controller and the browser at instant, created some challenges for Google. Obviously, when you are streaming a 4K video, many are okay with a few seconds of buffering at the beginning, but in gaming, that could result in your … [Read more...] about Google’s Project Stream Will Stream Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Through The Chrome Browser
The Assassin's Creed series is comprised of 11 main games, not even counting the numerous spin-offs. From its initial release in 2007, Ubisoft has made it a yearly franchise for nearly the entire time. This can, of course, be intimidating when you're thinking about picking up the newest game. Odyssey will feature a storyline in ancient Greece and another during the present day, which I will detail below. How does it continue the narrative? Assassin's Creed … [Read more...] about Do I need to know anything about Assassin’s Creed to enjoy Odyssey?
Highly anticipated: Even though Ubisoft did not reveal too much that was not already leaked about its newest Assassin's Creed game, it did have a few more details, an official trailer, and some gameplay footage on display at E3. It seems that the Assassin’s Creed leak we reported on in May was pretty accurate after all. Several details that were revealed to JeuxVideoLive and Kotaku by insider's were confirmed today with Ubisoft’s official E3 unveiling of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. While the sources' claim that the game was a direct sequel to Origins did not seem to be valid, most everything else the insiders said was true including it having two protagonists and a dialog system. In addition to a two-minute trailer (above), Creative Director Jonathan Dumont had several details to go over, as well as a few minutes of actual gameplay footage (below). Odyssey is set in Greece circa 431 BC during the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta. Players can choose between … [Read more...] about Ubisoft officially unveils Assassin’s Creed Odyssey with a killer trailer
