President Donald Trump quietly blocked a stealthy “BRIDGE” amnesty that would have crippled immigration enforcement and triggered a migrant wave during his 2020 election, according to a report in the New York Times. Trump’s decision to block the BRIDGE plan came after hearing advice from White House aide Steve Miller, the former Senate aide who played a key role in blocking the 2013 “Gang of Eight” cheap labor amnesty. The President’s January 19 offer of a three-year work permit amnesty now covers just the one million people who are enrolled in the DACA amnesty and the Temporary Protective Status program. The president’s decision contradicts pre-speech leaks which said Trump was going to endorse the no-limits BRIDGE amnesty. The BRIDGE bill was developed by pro-migration legislators. It is marketed as a mere extension of President Barack Obama’s DACA amnesty, which provided worker permits to roughly 800,000 … [Read more...] about New York Times: Donald Trump Blocked ‘BRIDGE’ Amnesty

White House Smashes New York Times for Story on Fred Trump’s Taxes
The White House criticized a story the New York Times published Tuesday about the president’s father, Fred Trump, and his tax filings when he was a real estate mogul. “Fred Trump has been gone for nearly twenty years and it’s sad to witness this misleading attack against the Trump family by the failing New York Times,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement sent to reporters.Sanders accused the New York Times and other media of losing their credibility for hit pieces about members of Trump’s family. “[T]hey are consumed with attacking the president and his family 24/7 instead of reporting the news,” Sanders said, noting that the Times rarely reported anything positive about the president. Trump mocked the New York Times on Tuesday night at a campaign rally in Mississippi, specifically calling out one of their reporters for laughing in 2016 when a Democrat warned of Trump winning the Republican primary. The president … [Read more...] about White House Smashes New York Times for Story on Fred Trump’s Taxes
New York Times: Trump’s Iran Sanctions ‘Working’; Foreign Policy ‘Success’
The New York Times gave President Donald Trump credit for oil sanctions on Iran, which it said had been successful in pressuring the regime without raising oil prices. In an article by Cliffor Krauss titled, “Trump Hit Iran With Oil Sanctions. So Far, They’re Working,” the Times reported that Trump had defied foreign policy experts and achieved what few of them would have thought possible. The Times noted: When President Trump announced in May that he was going to withdraw the United States from the nuclear agreement that the Obama administration and five other countries negotiated with Iran in 2015 and reimpose sanctions on the country, the decision was fraught with potential disaster. If Mr. Trump’s approach worked too well, oil prices would spike and hurt the American economy. If it failed, international companies would continue trading with Iran, leaving the Islamic Republic unscathed, defiant and free to restart its nuclear program. But the … [Read more...] about New York Times: Trump’s Iran Sanctions ‘Working’; Foreign Policy ‘Success’

Nolte: New York Times Upset over Threats Against Media; Ignores 500-Plus Attacks on Trump Supporters
New York Times publisher A.G. Sulzberger says he is worried about threats against journalists, even as his publication has all but ignored more than 500 attacks against President Trump and his supporters. After meeting with the president this month, Sulzberger released a five-paragraph statement about the weekend meeting:I told the president directly that I thought that his language was not just divisive but increasingly dangerous. I told him that although the phrase “fake news” is untrue and harmful, I am far more concerned about his labeling journalists “the enemy of the people.” I warned that this inflammatory language is contributing to a rise in threats against journalists and will lead to violence. … I warned him that it was putting lives at risk, that it was undermining the democratic ideals of our nation[.] Sulzberger claimed he was responding to the weekend’s Trump tweets. “Had a very good and interesting meeting at the White … [Read more...] about Nolte: New York Times Upset over Threats Against Media; Ignores 500-Plus Attacks on Trump Supporters
