Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced a bundle of new updates for groups designed to give group admins more control and make group navigation easier for all users. The announcement was made on Zuckerberg's Instagram Broadcast Channel . One of the main changes is a new tool that gives group admin s more control over who can join a group. When an admin shares a group's invite link or makes the group joinable in a community, they will now have the ability to decide who can and cannot join. The feature is designed to give group admins more control over their group's privacy and ensure that only trusted individuals can join, says Meta. Another new feature is the ability to see which groups you have in common with someone easily. This should come in handy in larger groups and communities , where it can be difficult to remember which groups you are a part of. Users can now search for a contact's name to see their groups in common, making it easier to navigate … [Read more...] about WhatsApp Groups get these two new features: All the details

iOS16.4 appears to tip new Apple Beats Studio Buds Plus
Apple may be readying an improved version of the Beats Studio Buds to hit shelves soon, based on code spotted in the latest version of iOS. As 9 to 5 Mac (opens in new tab) reports, the refreshed wireless earbuds are set to be called the Beats Studio Buds Plus and support for them has seemingly been unearthed inside the freshly deployed Release Candidate (RC) of iOS 16.4 . (This just went out to developers, before a public rollout due imminently, no doubt). The new Beats Studio Buds Plus look pretty much the same as the current earbuds in terms of design, with 9 to 5 Mac having obtained supposedly leaked pics showing the Buds Plus in black with gold highlights. The earbuds will sport better noise cancellation and transparency, we’re told, and will be able to switch between noise-canceling modes via a press-and-hold action. The nuggets found in iOS 16.4 code also show that the earbuds will benefit from ‘Hey Siri’ support, audio sharing, and automatic device … [Read more...] about iOS16.4 appears to tip new Apple Beats Studio Buds Plus
GNOME 44 Is Here to Make Your Linux PC Better Than Ever
GNOME serves as the default desktop environment for countless Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu and Fedora . GNOME 44 has now been released, with changes that will show up in upcoming Linux distro updates. GNOME 44 has been under development for the past six months, and most of the work has gone into the Settings app. It’s no easy task to organize all of the options, toggles, and links needed for a desktop PC — as we’ve learned from Windows 10/11 and macOS Ventura . The accessibility panel has been redesigned to be more clear, and new options have been added for keyboard features, over-amplification for audio, and making the scrollbars always visible. The sound panel has also been updated, with volume level controls in a separate window. The Mouse & Touchpad section now has integrated videos to demonstrate each option, plus a new testing window and mouse acceleration setting. GNOME 44 also has improvements to the quick settings menu that was introduced in the … [Read more...] about GNOME 44 Is Here to Make Your Linux PC Better Than Ever
Microsoft is scaring Windows 11 users with a false security warning – but don’t panic
Windows 11 has seen the unwelcome return of an old bug whereby the system is warning that something’s wrong with the security of the user’s PC, when in fact there’s nothing amiss at all. This is a glitch in the operating system’s Security app which reports that “Standard hardware security not supported,” telling the user that their device fails to meet the requirements for ‘standard’ hardware security. Clearly, then, that’s informing you that your PC’s hardware isn’t up to scratch on the security front, visually flagging this with a little yellow warning triangle on the taskbar, as multiple Neowin readers have reported (opens in new tab) . The tech site also uncovered a number of complaints on Microsoft’s Feedback Hub relating to this bug which has been around since June 2022 – apparently resurfacing now. The truth is that there’s nothing wrong with the PC’s security at all, it’s just a bug causing the system to misreport a problem that doesn’t exist. From … [Read more...] about Microsoft is scaring Windows 11 users with a false security warning – but don’t panic
Your iPhone calls will soon sound as good as they do on WhatsApp
Apple’s iOS 16.3.1 update brought basic bug fixes to iCloud and Siri, but the company’s next software patch, iOS 16.4, looks set to introduce more tangible improvements to the ways in which your iPhone handles everyday tasks. Among the features set to arrive with iOS 16.4 is Voice Isolation; a neat little tool that blocks out ambient noise during cellular calls to prioritize the quality of your voice. In other words, you’ll soon be able to better hear the person you're chatting with over the phone, and they’ll be able to better hear you too. Voice Isolation is actually a feature that’s been available for some time on VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calls, made through apps like WhatsApp, but Apple says (opens in new tab) the tool will finally be making its way to cellular iPhone calls with iOS 16.4, which is expected to begin rolling out "later this Spring" (in other words, sometime between March and June 2023). Apple has also confirmed that Voice Isolation will … [Read more...] about Your iPhone calls will soon sound as good as they do on WhatsApp
BreachForums says it will shut down following owner’s arrest
It seems as if Breach Forums is going down with its captain, after all. The administrator that succeeded their now-arrested predecessor confirmed that they would be shutting the site down and starting from scratch. The decision was made after they suspected law enforcement accessed the founder’s device, practically compromising the entire operation. Last week, the FBI arrested a person suspected to be “Pompompurin”, the founder and super-admin of Breached Forums, an underground forum where hackers and cybercriminals shared intelligence, malware (opens in new tab) , and spoils of their craft. The person, legal name Conor Brian Fitzpatrick, is currently out on bail, pending trial. He has been accused of conspiracy to commit access device fraud. In the meantime, a person with the alias “Baphomet” took over the forums. The initial idea was to keep the site operational. However, in their final update on Telegram, Baphomet explained that someone accessed Pompompurin’s device and … [Read more...] about BreachForums says it will shut down following owner’s arrest

Microsoft to make it easier for users to switch default apps on Windows 11
Microsoft 's management of app defaults in Windows 11 has received consistent criticism. However, that may change soon as Microsoft plans to ease things for those who want to change the default apps on Windows 11. Microsoft, in a blog post, said it is “reaffirming our long-standing approach to put people in control of their Windows PC experience,” announcing the new feature for Windows 11 users that will let them easily control changes to their app defaults.
