Nintendo has had massive success with its first official mobile game, Super Mario Run, and to no surprise, it wants to repeat that. With that in mind, it’s announced its intention to release between two and three new mobile games a year from here on out, Reuters reports.Many big name developers have created apps for the mobile space, often augmenting already existing properties on other platforms. For a long time, Nintendo was hesitant to do that, seemingly over fears that it would eat into its lucrative portable gaming business. Publisher Electronic Arts has launched a new Competitive Gaming Division, focused on the budding eSports market, and industry veteran Peter Moore will serve as the group’s “Chief Competition Officer.”“As the latest step in our journey to put our players first, this group will enable global eSports competitions in our biggest franchises including FIFA, Madden NFL, Battlefield and more,” the publisher said in a statement issued today.EA notes that its Competitive Gaming Division will balance competition, community, and entertainment in order to forge a dedicated eSports userbase and facilitate the broadcasting of live gaming events.Currently, Moore serves as chief operating officer at Electronic Arts. Nintendo may have inadvertently revealed the names and logos for a new pair of Pokémon games, Pokémon Sun and Moon, Thursday, ahead of the games’ scheduled reveal. The publisher filed trademarks for the two games in the European Union Thursday, which featured what appear to be logos for each.Meanwhile, Nintendo announced it will broadcast a Pokémon-themed Nintendo Direct livestream Friday morning. The announcement said fans should “be sure” to visit Pokemon.com after the event.A Nintendo of America parody Twitter account with similar name and image tweeted that Sun and Moon would be released in 2016, causing some media outlets to incorrectly report that Nintendo confirmed the game ahead of schedule. Nintendo is usually known for keeping mum on major game releases until events like E3 (June of this year), but it randomly revealed two new games on Saturday. Microsoft is teaming up with Dawn of War developer Relic Entertainment to create the first PC entry in the Age of Empires series in 12 years. Called Age of Empires IV, the game is looking to reinvent the modern real-time strategy title and will be joined by remasters of its predecessors, with both II and III set to receive brand-new overhauls.The Age of Empires franchise is considered a true classic of its genre and PC gaming in general, but it hasn’t maintained its relevance quite like some of its contemporaries.
