Two SpaceX commanders to receive the Congressional Space Medal of Honor

January 31, 2023 by www.techspot.com Leave a Comment

In brief: SpaceX astronauts Doug Hurley and Robert Behnken will receive the Congressional Space Medal of Honor on Tuesday. Both are former NASA astronauts who flew space shuttle missions before the program's retirement. The awardees went on to work for SpaceX. The Congressional Space Medal of Honor is a civilian award, not to be confused with the Medal of Honor for military members. It was introduced in 1969 and awarded to Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin for being the first humans to set foot on the moon. Traditionally, the medal is handed out to those who marked a first in space exploration. Congress also awarded it posthumously to the crews of the space shuttle disasters Challenger and Columbia. The last time it was awarded was in 2006, when Robert L Crippen piloted the first shuttle mission. So for the first time in 17 years, the White House will recognize Hurley and Behnken with the award as being the first commercial space crew to berth with the International Space … [Read more...] about Two SpaceX commanders to receive the Congressional Space Medal of Honor

Cette nouvelle carte d’Overwatch 2 est peut-être horrible pour Mei mais pour nous, elle est géniale

February 3, 2023 by global.techradar.com Leave a Comment

The Resident Evil 4 remake will drop a decisive feature

February 1, 2023 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

Audio player loading… With Resident Evil 4's remake less than a couple of months away, fans have been wondering just how faithful it'll be to the original game. In the case of one divisive mechanic, not so much. The Resident Evil 4 remake, launching for PS5 and Xbox Series X |S on March 24, is entirely ditching the quick time events of the original release. In an exclusive with Game Informer (opens in new tab) , Capcom confirmed that in their place will be more substantial gameplay elements such as side quests and new enemy types. These side quests will be scattered throughout the environment as collectible flyers, incentivizing exploration. They offer various objectives like killing certain enemies or solving various puzzles and riddles. What few side quests the original game had, such as shooting a set of blue medallions, are also set to make a return. New enemy types will be making their debut in Resident Evil 4 , too, one of which being a portly … [Read more...] about The Resident Evil 4 remake will drop a decisive feature

Searching Google for downloads of popular software has always come with risks, but over the past few months, it has been downright dangerous, according to researchers and a pseudorandom collection of queries. “Threat researchers are used to seeing a moderate flow of malvertising via Google Ads,” volunteers at Spamhaus wrote on Thursday . “However, over the past few days, researchers have witnessed a massive spike affecting numerous famous brands, with multiple malware being utilized. This is not ‘the norm.’” One of many new threats: MalVirt The surge is coming from numerous malware families, including AuroraStealer, IcedID , Meta Stealer, RedLine Stealer, Vidar, Formbook, and XLoader. In the past, these families typically relied on phishing and malicious spam that attached Microsoft Word documents with booby-trapped macros. Over the past month, Google Ads has become the go-to place for criminals to spread their malicious wares that are disguised as legitimate downloads by … [Read more...] about Until further notice, think twice before using Google to download software

Remove Ubuntu or XP from the Windows 7 Boot Menu

July 23, 2010 by www.howtogeek.com Leave a Comment

If you’ve ever used a dual-boot system and then removed one of the operating systems, it can still show up in Windows 7’s boot menu. We’ll show you how to get rid of old entries and speed up the boot process. Note: If you’re still rocking Windows XP, you can remove items from the boot menu there too . To edit the boot menu, we will use a program called bcdedit that’s included with Windows 7. There are some third-party graphical applications that will edit the menu, but we prefer to use built-in applications when we can. First, we need to open a command prompt with Administrator privileges. Open the start menu and type cmd into the search box. Right click on the cmd program that shows up, and select Run as administrator . Alternatively, if you’ve disabled the search box , you can find the command prompt in All Programs > Accessories. In the command prompt, type in bcdedit and press enter. A list of the boot menu entries will appear. … [Read more...] about Remove Ubuntu or XP from the Windows 7 Boot Menu

How to Delete, Modify or Disable an Incorrect or Duplicate Entry on the XP Boot Menu

May 24, 2010 by www.howtogeek.com Leave a Comment

Have you ever inherited a computer that has more than one entry on the Windows XP boot menu screen? Most of the time one of the entries doesn’t even work in the first place, and then you’re forced to either hit a key or wait 30 seconds every time. Note: If you’re on Windows 7 or Vista, there’s a different method required for removing boot menu items . There are two options to get around this: You can remove the offending boot menu item, or you can just turn off the boot menu from being displayed. If you aren’t tech savvy, you’ll want to just use the second option. Thanks to my friend Shawn for forgetting how to do this and prompting me to write this article. =) Removing an Incorrect Boot Menu Option on XP Note: This method involves modifying a very important boot configuration file. You should proceed with caution and always make sure you have backups of your files just in case something goes wrong. All of the boot menu options in Windows XP are stored in the … [Read more...] about How to Delete, Modify or Disable an Incorrect or Duplicate Entry on the XP Boot Menu

google: Google may have an employee ‘problem’ in the US

February 3, 2023 by www.gadgetsnow.com Leave a Comment

Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently announced that the company would cut 12,000 jobs or 6% of its global workforce as it braces to face “difficult economic cycles.” As a result of this, a number of departments, including FuchsiaOS, and Area 120, among others, will see a thinner workforce. Now a report has claimed a group of employees staged protests in the US this week at the company’s headquarters in California and New York. As per a report by Bloomberg, a group of employees protested outside the company’s offices in Mountain View, California, on Wednesday in a bid to attract attention to labour conditions for sub-contracted workers and to support thousands of their recently laid-off co-workers. The second rally took place near Google's corporate offices in New York City on Thursday. In this demonstration, nearly 50 Google employees protested shortly after its parent company Alphabet announced fourth-quarter profits of $13.6 billion.
