Apple’s next phone may be the iPhone 9
For a while now rumour mills have been churning about the probability of Apple launching an affordable iPhone. Renowned tipster and Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo recently said that a budget iPhone will arrive in first half of 2020. And now a new report from Macotakara states that this budget iPhone will be called iPhone 9. The rumoured name so far has been iPhone SE 2 as it is expected to be on the lines of iPhone SE which was launched in 2015. However, the Macotakara report quotes an ‘informed source’ and states that, “it would be possible iPhone SE2, that is said to be launched spring, 2020, as iPhone 9.” Back in 2017 when Apple launched the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, it launched the 10th anniversary special edition, iPhone X, and hence giving iPhone 9 a complete miss. So, it may be the case of naming the new smartphone, iPhone 9 as it is expected to be on the lines of iPhone 8 in terms of size and design. These, however, are still rumours and nothing has been … [Read more...] about Apple’s next phone may be the iPhone 9
OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Taps T-Mobile’s Long-Range 5G Network
T-Mobile today announced the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren, clearly the best awkwardly named phone of 2019. The new OnePlus phone will be the second device, after the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, to feature T-Mobile's as yet unlaunched long-range 600MHz 5G network. "At OnePlus we believe that 5G is the future," said Pete Lau, CEO and founder of OnePlus. "T-Mobile has always been a great partner, and T-Mobile's expansive 5G network on the 600MHz spectrum makes it the perfect opportunity for us to exclusively launch the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren in the United States." The Pro is based on T-Mobile's OnePlus 7 Pro, not its new 7T. That means it has the OnePlus 7 Pro's cameras, including its 3x zoom rather than the 7T's 2x zoom, and the Pro's pop-up selfie camera. In my testing, I found that the Pro's cameras were superior to the 7T's, especially in low light. There are some steps up from the 7 Pro, though. According to the press release, this phone has a 4,085mAh battery compared to the Pro's … [Read more...] about OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Taps T-Mobile’s Long-Range 5G Network
Ericsson agrees to pay over $1 billion to resolve US corruption probes
Swedish mobile telecoms company Ericsson has agreed to pay over $1 billion to resolve probes into corruption, including the bribing of government officials, the U.S. Department of Justice said. The bribery took place over many years in countries including China, Vietnam, and Djibouti, the department said. The total charges include a criminal penalty of more than $520 million, plus $540 million to be paid to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in a related matter. The company admitted it had conspired with others to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) from at least 2000 to 2016 by engaging in a scheme to pay bribes and to falsify books and records and by failing to implement reasonable internal accounting controls, the Justice Department said in a statement. "The settlement with the SEC and DOJ shows that we have not always met our standards in doing business the right way," Ericsson CEO Borje Ekholm said in a statement. Ericsson used third parties to … [Read more...] about Ericsson agrees to pay over $1 billion to resolve US corruption probes

Cross-play commeth Another huge wall is about to drop between PlayStation 4 and other networks, with the Minecraft Bedrock Edition looking virtually confirmed for PS4 complete with Xbox Live cross-play in the near future. Jez Corden 7 Dec 2019 0 Source: Windows Central One big development throughout this generation has been the gradual encroachment of cross-play between competing gaming networks. Major titles like Fortnite, Call of Duty, and others now have some form of cross-play between PlayStation and Xbox One, with other titles like Gears 5 picking up cross-play between Xbox and PC. One very high-profile hold out was Minecraft's Bedrock Edition, which is arguably the most cross-playable title of them all, connecting players from Nintendo Switch, VR, mobile, Xbox One, and PC via Xbox Live. Unfortunately, it looked as though Sony was holding out on bringing Xbox Live to PlayStation in order to enable … [Read more...] about Rumor: Minecraft Bedrock Edition with cross-play is coming to PlayStation 4 very soon
