Apple has reversed course on its plans to return to normal operations and has suspended requirements that employees return to the office this month for at least three days a week. The U-turn comes after woke employees called the mandate to return to the office a racist move designed to make the company “younger, whiter, and male-dominated.” The New York Times reports that Apple has reversed its plans to require workers to return to its offices for at least three days a week. The company has said this is due to a resurgence in coronavirus cases, but many employees have been openly protesting Apple’s plans to return to the offices for some time, placing heavy pressure on the tech giant. (AFP) (Justin Sullivan/Getty) Thousands of employees have been pushing back against the company’s demands, with the employee group Apple Together publishing a letter earlier this month calling on the firm to allow for a hybrid and flexible work schedule. The open letter claimed … [Read more...] about Apple Delays Return to Office After Woke Employee Mob Calls Its Plans Racist

Apple accused of union busting in new labor board filing
Apple retail employees in Atlanta are accusing the company of violating the National Labor Relations Act by holding captive audience meetings to counter an ongoing union drive at the site. The Communications Workers of America, which is working to organize the store, filed an unfair labor practice reporting the activity earlier today. Workers at the Cumberland Mall Apple store filed for a union election in April. They say that while they love the company, they want to have a bigger say in their compensation , benefits, and store health protocols. The Cumberland store is one of three retail locations where workers have launched official union drives. Many more are in the process of organizing. Apple hasn’t said publicly whether or not it supports the union, but the company has distributed anti-union talking points to some store managers, according to Vice . It has also hired well-known anti-union lawyers from Littler Mendelson to respond to the Atlanta union campaign. … [Read more...] about Apple accused of union busting in new labor board filing
Google Russia forced to declare bankruptcy after bank account seizure
Google's going... out of business?! That's apparently the case in Russia. As Reuters reports, Google's Russia subsidiary plans to file for bankruptcy after "the authorities seized its bank account, making it impossible to carry on operations." Reuters has a statement from Google: The Russian authorities' seizure of Google Russia's bank account has made it untenable for our Russia office to function, including employing and paying Russia-based employees, paying suppliers and vendors, and meeting other financial obligations. Google Russia has published a notice of its intention to file for bankruptcy. A regulatory filing showed Google Russia has been expecting to file for bankruptcy since March 22. The division did $2 billion in revenue last year, but that doesn't matter much when authorities take your entire bank account. Unlike many tech companies that have abandoned Russia over its invasion of Ukraine, Google has tried to keep doing business in the country. Heavy hitters … [Read more...] about Google Russia forced to declare bankruptcy after bank account seizure
NY State Accuses Amazon of Discrimination Against Pregnant and Disabled Workers
The New York State Division of Human Rights filed a formal complaint against Amazon on Wednesday, alleging that the e-commerce giant engages in workplace discrimination against pregnant and disabled employees. The agency accused Amazon of denying pregnant workers and employees with disabilities reasonable working accommodations and instead making them take unpaid leaves of absence, according to a release from the office of New York Gov. Kathy Hochul. State law stipulates that employers must comply with requests for reasonable accommodations for workers with disabilities or pregnancy-related conditions. Amazon, which employs roughly 40,000 workers throughout the state, has its own accommodation consultants, who assess each request and provide action plans, including modification of duties. The agency alleges that worksite managers can override the consultants' decisions and that this has led to the denial of reasonable accommodations. The complaint, according to the release, … [Read more...] about NY State Accuses Amazon of Discrimination Against Pregnant and Disabled Workers
Study: Netflix Seeing Sharp Rise in Long-Term Customers Cancelling Their Subscriptions
Netflix is seeing a sharp rise in the number of long-term customers cancelling their subscriptions, signaling a new threat to the left-wing streamer’s financial stability, according to a new study. Consumers who had been Netflix subscribers for more than three years accounted for just 5 percent of total cancelations at the start of 2022, but that figure jumped to 13 percent in the first quarter of 2022. Also in the first quarter, total cancellations spiked to 3.6 million people, compared with around 2.5 million in the previous five quarters. The results are from a study conducted by the research firm Antenna and provided to the tech news site The Information. Antenna said it drew its data from a panel of 5 million Americans. “The data help illuminate why Netflix’s subscriber growth stalled suddenly in the first quarter, prompting a big drop in the company’s stock price to its lowest point in several years and undermining investor confidence,” The Information said. Netflix … [Read more...] about Study: Netflix Seeing Sharp Rise in Long-Term Customers Cancelling Their Subscriptions
Hackers created a robocaller to waste Russian officials time and you can listen in on the calls
In context: The Russian invasion of Ukraine has prompted several companies to stop doing business with Russia. Western nations have also hit the superpower with crippling sanctions. Even hackers have jumped into the fray with DDoS attacks on government websites. A hacktivist group calling itself Obfuscated Dreams of Scheherazade has created a bot that sets up a conference call between multiple government entities, causing each to think the other one made the call. The stated purpose is to waste the government's time and tie up the phone lines. The automated spam calls go on non-stop during Russian operating hours. On Wednesday, the hacking group set up a website where anybody can initiate and listen in on one of these calls. The website is called Waste Russian Time Today. Users visiting the site can scroll down to the telephone icon, start a call between random Russian agencies, and listen to the chaos as they try to figure out who is calling who and why. Obviously, knowing … [Read more...] about Hackers created a robocaller to waste Russian officials time and you can listen in on the calls
Biden’s Labor Chief Urges Congress to Import More Foreign Workers
The nation’s Democratic labor secretary is urging Republicans and Democrats to import more workers for jobs throughout the U.S. economy, even as millions of Americans remain on the sidelines of the U.S. economy. “Go talk to businesses in your communities, privately, and ask them what they want: Every single company is going to say we need immigration reform,” Labor Secretary Marty Walsh told the House Appropriations subcommittee on May 17, adding: Big companies need it, small companies need it, people need it. We need more workers in this country. We’re a country that that constantly depends on immigrant workers. We always have. My parents were two of those workers that came to this country. We’re a country that if we want to continue to move forward as a country, we need to figure out some immigration laws and get some reform. “It’s a complete betrayal of the people that he is supposed to be prioritizing in in that position,” responded Rob Law, regulatory policy chief at … [Read more...] about Biden’s Labor Chief Urges Congress to Import More Foreign Workers
India’s H-1B Companies Ask Labor Dept. to Let Foreign Workers Stay amid Crash
The India-based NASSCOM business lobby is asking the Department of Labor to help the lobby keep its huge workforce of Indian H-1B temporary workers in American jobs throughout the coronavirus crash, according to a report in the Times of India newspaper. “Everyone that has been involved in the H1-B program … has skirted the rules to stay in the United States,” said one lobbyist. “These companies do not want to have to fire these [H-1B] workers and send them back home — they want to hold them here” so they can grab jobs in the recovery, he said. Labor Department officials declined to provide any information about the NASSCOM lobbying and declined to say if the agency would help businesses change the paperwork that allows fired H-1Bs to stay in the United States. The Indian report did not say if the NASSCOM lobbyists met with Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia. If the administration moves forward in relaxing regulations governing the H-1B program amid spiking unemployment, “get … [Read more...] about India’s H-1B Companies Ask Labor Dept. to Let Foreign Workers Stay amid Crash
