Adani Enterprises signs joint venture with EdgeConneX to develop data centers in India

Adani Enterprises on Tuesday said it has signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with US' EdgeConneX to form an equal partnership company to develop and operate data centers throughout India. In a regulatory filing, Adani Enterprises said it has signed a JV agreement with EdgeConneX through its affiliate EdgeConneX Europe and DC Development Chennai (DCDCPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, for strategic partnership for data center business in India... and 50 per cent equity stake dilution of DCDCPL by the company to ECX Europe BV on fulfillment of certain terms and conditions. The joint venture aims to develop 1 GW of data center capacity over the next decade. The AdaniConneX JV will focus on building a network of hyperscale data centers in India, starting with the Chennai, Navi Mumbai, Noida, Vizag and Hyderabad markets. Senate passes Internet tax moratorium extension: 7 more years tax-free

With the ban on taxing Internet connections set to expire at the end of October, both houses of Congress are taking action. Last night, the Senate passed a bill that would extend the 1998 Internet Tax Freedom Act yet again, this time for seven years. A version of the legislation passed by the House earlier this week would only extend it for another four years. The moratorium was originally enacted in 1998 and has since been extended twice, in 2001 and 2004 . Under the law, local governments are prohibited from levying access taxes on Internet connections (purchases can be subject to applicable state taxes). The nine states that managed to enact 'Net access taxes prior to the moratorium's enactment in 1998 are exempt from the ban, and would continue to be under the just-passed legislation. Although the House version of the legislation would only extend the ban for four more years and the Senate version for seven, there is broad support for making the ban permanent.
