Magic Leap adds $461 million in additional funding led by Saudi Arabia
Augmented reality glasses maker Magic Leap has raised $461 million in additional funding from the Public Investment Fund, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s sovereign investment arm, and some other new investors. That brings the Plantation, Florida-based company’s fourth round of institutional funding to $963 million, and the total raised to date to $2.3 billion. The funding total is far higher than that of other companies in the fledgling AR business. “The Magic Leap team and I are happy to welcome [Saudi investment] and the other new investors to the Magic Leap family. March 7, 2018 - Written By Alexander Maxham Magic Leap, has announced that it has raised $461 million from investors, the biggest investor in that group is the Saudi Arabia sovereign investment arm. This follows the announcement recently of another batch of funding that totaled $502 million with Singapore’s Temasek. With this latest round of Series-D funding, Magic Leap now has over $2.3 billion available to develop its smartglasses that it has been working on for quite some time. These smartglasses have been shown in public, but only by Shaquille O’Neal, who has invested in the company in the past.According to reports, Magic Leap is spending around $50 million per month right now, so the company definitely needed to raise some funds. Apple donates $250,000 to Magical Bridge Foundation to help construct accessible Sunnyvale playground

The Magical Bridge Playground will be the foundation's third, based within the 15.2-acre Fair Oaks Park to help serve the estimated 150,000 residents of Sunnyvale, as well as visitors to the area and the families of employees working for nearby tech companies. Apple's donation of $250,000 sponsors an area of the playground named the Innovation Zone, described as "a dynamic space within the Sunnyvale playground for people of all ages and abilities to meet, learn, explore, create, and build new and diverse relationships."
