TCL’s awesome 75-inch 8 Series 4K TV hits an all-time-low price (Update: Expired)

· July 28, 2020 ·

The TCL 8 Series 75Q825 debuted late last year to glowing praise -- not just from CNET's David Katzmaier, but from reviewers far and wide. Ironically, TCL has long been known as a budget brand, but there was nothing low-end about this model -- especially the $2,600 price tag. Just a few days ago, the 75Q825 was back on sale for $1,800, tying its all-time low. Today, however, and while supplies last, you can get the TCL 8 Series 75-inch 4K Roku TV for $1,500 , a new low by a pretty hefty margin. It's still expensive compared with some other 75-inch TVs, but it's also one of the best TVs you can buy, period. See it at Best Buy That's according to Katzmaier, whose TCL 8 Series review you'll want to read straight away. A tidbit: "The 8-Series is a beast. Inky-deep black levels and brilliant highlights, created by TCL's industry-first Mini LED technology , deliver the kind of contrast that makes every image pop, especially HDR. In my side-by-side comparisons it … [Read more...] about TCL’s awesome 75-inch 8 Series 4K TV hits an all-time-low price (Update: Expired)

Low-code development has become a technological movement, says Gartner

· February 16, 2021 ·

The market landscape for low-code development technologies will remain on a strong trajectory for 2021, according to the latest figures from Gartner. The research firm's low-code market forecast suggests that a surge in remote development during the COVID-19 pandemic will continue to prop up the space overall, as more companies turn to low-code platforms to support innovation and digital transformation agendas. Low-code development enables enterprises to rapidly build and deploy software applications without the use of a professional programmer. Instead of writing every single line of code for a given application, users of a low-code or no-code platform can build their project with point-and-click interfaces. Gartner posits that low-code as become a general social and technological movement, bolstered by the emergence of citizen developers outside of IT, that will continue to grow significantly for years to come. Low-code application platforms (LCAP) are expected to be the largest … [Read more...] about Low-code development has become a technological movement, says Gartner

New funds could help grow Africa’s Great Green Wall. But can the massive forestry effort learn from past mistakes?

· February 11, 2021 ·

By Rachel Cernansky Feb. 11, 2021 , 1:18 PM After returning home from college to northwest Cameroon in 2004, Tabi Joda felt a sense of profound loss. Trees that once bore fruit, provided medicine, and created shade had been cut down. Rich soils had turned to dust. “The land I used to know as a forest was no longer a forest,” he recalls. Joda, a business consultant, got to work, calling on what he’d learned in school and from local knowledge passed down over generations. He collected seeds, started a tree nursery, and launched an agroforestry initiative that enlisted local people in planting trees. They chose species that provided food and timber, supported livelihoods, and helped wildlife thrive. The effort soon spread to nearby communities. And Joda ultimately became a vocal advocate for an even bigger dream: the Great Green Wall, which aims to transform the lives of some 100 million people by planting a mosaic of trees, shrubs, and grasses along a corridor stretching some 8000 … [Read more...] about New funds could help grow Africa’s Great Green Wall. Brazilian ICT market predicted to grow 7% in 2021

· February 15, 2021 ·

The Brazilian information technology and communications market is set to grow 7% reaching US$ 64,4 billion in 2021, with security and public cloud among key areas of focus, according to analyst IDC. About 60% of Brazilian user organizations had been planning to increase their ICT spend at the start of 2020, the analyst house noted. However, the Covid-19 pandemic changed plans drastically, and intentions to boost investments plummeted to a record low in May and June. On the other hand, IDC noted that buyers are currently a lot more confident about ICT investments in Brazil, with 50% of companies planning to increase spend in 2021. According to the analyst's predictions, other areas where companies will be increasing spend are artificial intelligence, modernization of enterprise software and customer experience. These investments are expected to increase productivity, and reduce costs. In addition, buyers expect that new investments will help them strike a balance between digital … [Read more...] about Brazilian ICT market predicted to grow 7% in 2021
