This morning, this story spoke about a singular fresh-faced rumor, suggesting that both Oppo and sibling phone maker OnePlus would suddenly and unexpectedly be pulling out of European markets. We reached out to both brands for confirmation and, as such, this story now includes their formal responses. If you'd asked us yesterday, we'd have said everything looks to be sunshine and rainbows at both OnePlus and Oppo. OnePlus recently launched the OnePlus 11 – a noteworthy improvement on its predecessor, which is in contention for best phone of 2023. And Oppo not only showcased its newest flagship line – the Oppo Find X6 series – but broke into the international foldable market with the one of the best foldables around (check out our Oppo Find N2 Flip review for the full breakdown) a little over a month ago. With all of this in mind, not to mention a successful MWC trade show – in which both brands had some of the most interesting things on the show floor to … [Read more...] about Confirmed: Oppo and OnePlus aren’t leaving Europe after all

Rocket Report: ULA Centaur stage has an ‘anomaly,’ Virgin Orbit funding is dire
Welcome to Edition 5.31 of the Rocket Report! We're about to tip over into April, and all signs continue to point to the likelihood of a Starship orbital launch attempt this month. I've heard all sorts of dates, but most recently, SpaceX appears to be working internally toward April 10. That lines up with about when a launch license is expected from the Federal Aviation Administration. It probably won't happen that soon, but we are pretty darn close, y'all. As always, we welcome reader submissions , and if you don't want to miss an issue, please subscribe using the box below (the form will not appear on AMP-enabled versions of the site). Each report will include information on small-, medium-, and heavy-lift rockets and a quick look ahead at the next three launches on the calendar. Isar Aerospace scores a big funding round . Before this week, the Munich-based company had raised about $165 million, a reasonable amount of cash for a launch startup building a small rocket.
Motorola’s next flagships impress in specs leak and look to be going global
The Motorola Edge 40 and Edge 40 Pro have leaked, courtesy of MySmartPrice (opens in new tab) which cites a source with direct knowledge of the official specs. The Motorola Edge 40 Pro is expected to essentially be the same phone as the Moto X40 (opens in new tab) , which has already launched in China, while the Motorola Edge 40 will be a brand-new device. According to the rumor, the Edge 40 Pro will have a lot of the X40’s specs, which would mean a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a 165Hz refresh rate, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. Cameras-wise, the Moto X40 packs three rear cameras; a 50MP main shooter, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 12MP telephoto, plus a 60MP front-facing camera. All this is powered by a 4,600mAh battery, with 125W fast charging. Since the Moto X40 is already out in the wild, the specs can be assumed to be more or less accurate, based in the notion that Motorola is essentially going to package this same … [Read more...] about Motorola’s next flagships impress in specs leak and look to be going global
UFC’s Conor McGregor: Every School Should Have ‘Armed Protection’
UFC’s Conor McGregor reacted to the 28-year-old transgender shooter’s attack on the Nashville Christian school by expressing his conviction that every school should have “armed protection.” FOX News reported McGregor responding to the attack by tweeting that he “would like to see armed protection at each school” throughout the country. McGregor also indicated that he has an armed guard “present” at his children’s school. He made clear that an attacker who tried to shoot his way into his children’s school, the way the woman shot her way into the Nashville-area Christian school, would be met with gunfire and stopped. “If she shot her way in to that school from the outside, my guard, who is tucked away, armed and unseen, would have seen her and taken her down. Saving those children’s lives. May God and his best people on this earth protect our children!” he tweeted. Breitbart News pointed to comments by FOX News’ John Roberts, indicating the Christian school in which the … [Read more...] about UFC’s Conor McGregor: Every School Should Have ‘Armed Protection’
A remotely operated lab is taking shape 2.5 km under the sea
In 1962, one of the world's first underwater research laboratories and human habitats was established off the coast of Marseilles, France, at a depth of 10 meters. The Conshelf 1 project consisted of a steel structure that hosted two men for a week. Now, more than 60 years later, another underwater laboratory is being set up not far from Marseilles, this time to study both the sea and sky. Unlike the Conshelf habitat, the Laboratoire Sous-marin Provence Méditerranée (LSPM) won't be manned by humans. Located 40 km off the coast of Toulon at a depth of 2,450 meters, it is Europe’s first remotely operated underwater laboratory. Physics under the sea Currently, three junction boxes capable of powering several instruments and retrieving data are at the heart of LSPM. The boxes, each measuring 6 meters long and 2 meters high, are connected to a power system on land via a 42-kilometer-long electro-optical cable. The optical portion of this cable is used to collect data from the … [Read more...] about A remotely operated lab is taking shape 2.5 km under the sea
