In the end polycarbonate is still better against everyday damage than thin metal or glass, and the flexible screen itself will be plastic. So finish, thickness of plastic and form factor should matter for Design 3.0, not material. posted on 12 Jun 2013, 12:30 0 74. 5 years after the introduction of the first Samsung Galaxy S line smartphone, we thought a walk down memory lane is fitting. On Monday, we asked you to consider all 7 devices that have been made available so far under the S moniker, and give us insight into your tastes — which one did you think looked best, design-wise? The results are now in.Almost 2,600 people took our call and voted for their favorite Galaxy S device, and the resulting split is fairly consistent with what we expected. It'll be interesting to go through the comments and see if you were surprised, though. Why? Because the still very recent Samsung Galaxy S5 bombed.Indeed, with just 94 votes (3.65%), the S5 is only ahead of the original Galaxy S, which grabbed 26 votes (1.01%). The most votes went to the Galaxy S6/S6 edge, with 1795 people (69.63%) giving Samsung thumbs up. The Galaxy S II landed second, with 322 votes, or 12.49%, followed by the Galaxy S4 (6.63%) and S III (6.59%).Again, we're not at all … [Read more...] about Design-wise, the Galaxy S5 is the second most disliked Galaxy S flagship in history (poll results)
Believe it or not, it's been almost exactly 5 years since the release of the first Samsung Galaxy S line smartphone — the Galaxy S. Announced on March 23, the S packed some pretty impressive hardware, like a "giant" 4-inch Super AMOLED display and a Hummingbird processor clocked at 1GHz.Of course, the Galaxy S was just the beginning of what we now recognize as Samsung's most popular smartphone line. About a year later, the even bigger, 4.3-inch Galaxy S II arrived (and was then modified and released in more flavors than any other phone we know of), then the Galaxy S III, which was really a game changer for Samsung and the industry, and we rated it appropriately. The S III also brought the first non-rectangular design for the series, and the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, and Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, all have continued in its footsteps, refining the styling and trying to get the details just right. All these iterations had their appeal at the time, but we definitely feel that some were more … [Read more...] about Poll: Which is your favorite Samsung Galaxy S design?

AlikMalix (unregistered) I don't think my next phone will be an iPhone - I love iOS, but these iPhones are getting uglier and uglier (if rumors are true). Android just added app permissions and hopefully by 2017 when my contract is up they add full support for forcetouch. Samsung includes the s-pen and Samsung pay is better than Apple Pay. If you guys help me get rid of bloatware without rooting - I'll be satisfied enough at least until Apple gets a new CEO or Designer. posted on 14 … [Read more...] about Comments for : Dual-camera iPhone 7 Pro with Smart Connector tipped again, no dual speakers or thinner design
There have been rumors that the Galaxy S III design is this exact way in order to fend off any potential lawsuits by Apple regarding its chassi s, as the grandfather of the Galaxy S line is experiencing. Samsung 's Vice President of design Chang Dong-hoon, however, seems to be pretty entertained by that idea. Speaking to reporters at the 2012 Seoul Digital Forum, he stated that Samsung's smartphones form and shape have not been influenced by the ongoing lawsuits with Apple . " Our change in smartphone design is part of a five-year plan, not a sudden turn-around, " claimed the executive. He reiterated once again that the soapy shape of the Galaxy S III has been decided on after trying out hundreds of possible scenarios (and sticking with the home key in the last minute , we hear). Well, if those Galaxy S line designs are now part of a 5-year plan, we are curious what's in it for next year. … [Read more...] about Samsung says its new smartphone designs now part of a 5-year plan, not affected by Apple’s lawsuits
