There has been a purge of extremists and potential terrorists working on London’s transport network to guard against another Islamic State attack, the Government’s security minister has revealed. Ben Wallace said Britain faces an “acute” terror threat, and the move would help police and emergency services in their fight to keep Londoners safe, following four successful attacks by radical Muslims in the capital last year.He told the Evening Standard there had been an intensive effort to identify potential attackers and those who “would pose a risk to London and its transport network” had already been removed from their jobs on the network. London Bridge terrorist Khuram Butt had a customer safety job on the London Underground network before becoming an Islamic State killer, which he could have used to strike trains. The 2005 7/7 bombers also famously attacked the Tube and a London bus (pictured).UKIP spokesman and Lonon Assembly member Peter … [Read more...] about London Transport Network Purges ‘Extremist Workers’ to Stop Islamic State Attack
The Belgian Islamic party Partij Islam is set to run candidates in 28 municipalities in the upcoming Belgian municipal elections, and have declared their intention to create an Islamic State in which women and men have to ride in separate buses. The Partij Islam is likely hoping to do well in highly Muslim-populated areas like Molenbeek and Anderlecht where the party already has some representation, HLN reports.Anderlecht municipal councillor Redouane Ahrouch, the treasurer of the party, told Belgian media: “Our goal is a one hundred percent Islamic state.” Ahrouch, who works also as a bus driver in Anderlecht, said that many women have complained to him that men were trying to sexually harass and grab them. His solution to the problem, he said, is to separate public transport by sex so that women have their own buses. The party also believes that any woman should be allowed to wear the Islamic headscarf anywhere they want … [Read more...] about Belgian Islamic Party Announces ‘100 Per Cent Islamic State’ as End Goal
Tech & Science Islam meat Animals Halal meat isn’t always labeled, and you could be eating it without knowing. According to a report by Harvest Public Media, some retailers buy halal meat but don’t label it as such, as they’re concerned that Islamophobic sentiments might drive down sales. Large retailers sometimes buy from Halal slaughterhouses because that’s what type of meat is available. One slaughterhouse may sell to a variety of different stores, some of which want the Halal label to appeal to their Muslim customers, and some of which don’t want to include it. "They may feel it’s not necessary to mention that it’s halal and, in some cases, they may fear a backlash,” Haroon Latif, who researches the U.S. Halal market, told Harvest Public Media. The call has been sent out for those who oppose the “Islamisation of France” to make their feelings known in front of the Paris stock exchange on January 18th. While the organisers accept they are unlikely to see the kind of numbers that have turned out for similar demos in the German city of Dresden in recent weeks, they say it's just the first step. “The movement in Germany has been around for months, for us in France this is just the start. We are only beginning here,” Pierre Cassen, from the group Riposte Laique told The Local. His organisation whose name roughly translates as “Secular Riposte” has organised the protest under the slogan “Islamists get out of France”. The Pegida movement (Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West) began in Dresden in October when only a few hunded protesters turned up. But by January those numbers have swelled to 18,000. Cassen thinks the same is possible in France, … [Read more...] about Will anti-Islam protests take off in France?
Tariq Ramadan says he is the victim of a smear campaign. Photo: AFP The prominent Islamic scholar Tariq Ramadan, detained in France over rape allegations, paid a woman to stay silent about their relationship in 2015, the Belgian judiciary said. Ramadan, 55, paid the Belgian-Moroccan woman €27,000 ($33,000) to stop posting details about their affair online, Luc Hennart, president of the Court of First Instance in Brussels, confirmed to news agency AFP on Wednesday. The Oxford professor was detained by a French court in February over charges that he raped two Muslim women in France. A third woman has since made further allegations of rape. Ramadan denies all the charges. Hennart said a public judgement was made in Brussels in May 2015 between the professor and the woman, Majda Bernoussi, after she posted online about his "psychological grip" on her. She did not accuse him of rape or sexual assault. The agreement "provides … [Read more...] about Swiss Islamic scholar Tariq Ramadan ‘paid woman for silence’
