No NATO for Sweden Until Qur’an Burning is Banned: Ankara

February 3, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that unless Sweden bans the burning of the Islamic Qur’an, he will not agree to the country’s bid for membership in the NATO military alliance. President Erdogan stated this week that Turkey will refuse to give a green light for Swedish membership in NATO as long as it remains legal for people to burn copies of the Islamic holy book following a recent burning of the Qur’an last month. “As long as you allow my holy book, the Qur’an, to be burned and torn apart, we will not say yes to your entry into NATO. Our view of Finland is positive, but not of Sweden,” Erdogan said, broadcaster SVT reports . Finnish police blocked a Qur’an burning just this week. Norway to Donate $7.3 Billion to Ukraine for Military and Humanitarian

February 6, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) – Oil-rich Norway is looking to donate 75 billion kroner ($7.3 billion) to Kyiv as part of a five-year support package that would make the Scandinavian country one of the world´s biggest donors to war-torn Ukraine, the Norwegian government said Monday. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said the money would be split evenly between military and humanitarian assistance over five years, broken down to 15 billion kroner ($1.5 billion) annually. The proposed aid package will be put to a vote in parliament. Last week, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that overall, the European Union´s economic, humanitarian and military support for Ukraine now amounts to almost EUR 50 billion. Norway is not an EU member, but has given Ukraine more 10 billion kroner ($1 billion) in civilian and military aid last year. “It will lead to an increased use of oil money,” Gahr Støre said, adding that he’s hoping “a large majority” in the Norwegian parliament … [Read more...] about Norway to Donate $7.3 Billion to Ukraine for Military and Humanitarian

‘There Will Be Planes’ – Ukraine Says Western Jets Already a Done Deal

February 5, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) – Ukraine’s defence minister expressed confidence Sunday that Western allies would agree to the country’s latest weapons request – warplanes to fight off Russian forces that invaded nearly a year ago. Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov told a news conference in Kyiv that Ukraine has already received everything from its “wish list to Santa,” except planes. “There will be planes, too,” Reznikov predicted. “The question is just what kind exactly…. Consider that this mission is already completed.” So far, Ukraine has won support from Baltic nations and Poland in its quest to obtain Western fighter jets. But several Western leaders have expressed concern that providing warplanes could provoke the Kremlin and draw their countries deeper into the conflict, which has cost tens of thousands of lives and wreaked massive destruction. Kyiv says such jets are essential to challenging Russia’s air superiority and ensuring success in a Russian offensive that Reznikov … [Read more...] about ‘There Will Be Planes’ – Ukraine Says Western Jets Already a Done Deal

Swedish Agency Warns of Increased Terrorism Threat

February 3, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

The Swedish Agency for Psychological Defense has warned that Sweden is in the crosshairs of foreign actors who are spreading messages that the country is a legitimate target for terror attacks. Mikael Tofvesson, head of the operations department at the Swedish Agency for Psychological Defense, stated earlier this week that attitudes toward Sweden abroad were becoming more and more aggressive. According to Tofvesson, part of the rise in aggression comes from a social media campaign by Muslims that claimed Swedish social services were kidnapping the children of Muslim families in Sweden, a phenomenon that has been ongoing since late 2021, broadcaster SVT reports . Police Crackdown on ‘Far-Right’ Promised As Migrant Protests Grow

February 3, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

Police in Ireland are expected to launch a crackdown against so-called “far-right agitators” amid the continued growth of anti-mass immigration protests throughout the country. An Garda Síochána, Ireland’s national police force, are reportedly expected to make a significant number of arrests in the near future as part of a crackdown on so-called “far-right agitators”, a report on Thursday has claimed. It comes as unrest in the country grows over the Irish government’s open borders approach to its ongoing migrant crisis, which has seen tens of thousands of migrants from Ukraine and beyond arrive in the country which has a smaller population than many individual U.S. states. With a growing number of large protests taking place in various regions across the island nation every single night, many authorities and officials have been keen to suggest that the protests — which are grassroots in nature — are in fact being orchestrated by a shadowy “far-right” . Now, with one … [Read more...] about Police Crackdown on ‘Far-Right’ Promised As Migrant Protests Grow

‘Refugee’ Stockholm Attack Suspect ‘Tried to Join Islamic State in Syria’

April 12, 2017 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

MOSCOW (AFP) – The Uzbek national suspected of mowing down pedestrians in Stockholm last week had tried to join the ranks of the Islamic State jihadist group in Syria, an Uzbek source told Russian agencies. The 39-year-old suspect, Rakhmat Akilov, “fell under the influence of emissaries of the Tajik cell of the Islamic State, making attempts to take part in combat in Syria on the side of the fighters,” an unnamed law enforcement source in the Central Asian state said. According to the source, Akilov attempted to cross Turkey’s border with Syria in 2015 but was detained. “Given his refugee status he was deported back to Sweden,” the source said. The source added that Uzbek authorities had added Akilov to an international wanted list in late February after a criminal case on “religious extremism” was opened against him. Akilov on Tuesday confessed to a “terrorist crime” for the truck attack that killed four people and injured 15 others on Friday, his lawyer said. He had … [Read more...] about ‘Refugee’ Stockholm Attack Suspect ‘Tried to Join Islamic State in Syria’

President Boris Johnson? NYC-Born Ex-UK PM Hints at White House Bid

February 3, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

The New York City-born former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson has said that he would not rule out a potential bid for the White House. Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, who served as British Prime Minister from 2019 to 2022 before being forced to resign over a series scandals including being fined for hosting a series of parties in Downing Street which violated the very same draconian lockdown measures his own government imposed upon the public during the Chinese coronavirus crisis, is apparently looking for a second act in his political career. While Westminster watchers have long speculated that such a second act would come in the form of an attempt to recapture his previous position as prime minister, Mr Johsnon threw a spanner in the works this week by telling the Spectator magazine: “I don’t rule it out,” in reference to a potential presidential run. The former British prime minister was born in New York City in 1964 while his father, Stanley … [Read more...] about President Boris Johnson? NYC-Born Ex-UK PM Hints at White House Bid

UK Govt Looks to Ban Misogyny on Social Media with ‘Online Safety’ Law

February 5, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

The British government is reportedly considering a measure to force social media companies to ban misogyny online as a part of the pending Online Safety Bill. The long-awaited legislation to introduce even more restrictions on online speech in Britain could be amended to allow Britain’s broadcasting regulator to fine online firms up to ten per cent of their global revenue should they fail to properly police allegedly misogynistic content on their sites. The measure, which is being pushed by a group of Conservative (Tory) Party peers, including former David Cameron aide Baroness Bertin, Baroness Morgan, and Baroness Newlove, has also drawn support from the leftist Labour Party, The Telegraph reported . While Culture Secretary Michelle Donelan is said to be of the opinion that the misogyny amendment is unnecessary, as she believes the current form of the bill already empowers the government to censor such content, should Labour follow through on backing the Tory peers’ … [Read more...] about UK Govt Looks to Ban Misogyny on Social Media with ‘Online Safety’ Law

No power needed: groundbreaking color e-paper display looks like pure magic but isn’t

Audio player loading… PPDS, the brand behind Philips professional displays, has announced a new range of products at ISE 2023, including Philips Tableaux, which it claims is the most energy-efficient and eco-friendly digital signage range ever launched by a major manufacturer. What captured our attention about Tableaux is the fact that it can run entirely unplugged and without using a single kilowatt of electricity, a feat that could help reduce the carbon footprint of businesses as well as their electricity bills. It also allows for new installations in places where access to electricity is challenging. Two panels are available, one in a traditional 25-inch 16:9 format, while the other is a more stretched 28-inch 32:9 model. PPDS claims that its Android-based Tableaux range can deliver up to 60,000 colors - including blue - which is a major milestone for what is essentially a glorified e-paper technology. Images of the two panels in what looked like commercial … [Read more...] about No power needed: groundbreaking color e-paper display looks like pure magic but isn’t
