#SelfieWhile the self-portrait predates all of us by several centuries, its modern incarnation, the selfie, is, by some accounts, barely a decade or so old. The word "selfie" has been traced all the way back to a forum post from 2002, and it wasn't until 2004 that anybody, reportedly, made use of #selfie (on Flickr). Obviously, the origins of the word are still up for debate, but the important part is that the selfie culture has gone mainstream – at least mainstream enough for the Oxford Dictionaries to not only note a whopping 17,000% spike in usage between 2012 and 2013, but to also formally recognize it as the "international Word of the Year 2013".According to Instagram, users have used #selfie 57 million times to tag their photos as of November 2013When we published our first front-facing camera comparison back in the beginning of this year, we noted that mainstream manufacturers, while paying attention, are not exactly committed as far as selfie cameras are concerned. … [Read more...] about The best selfie phone: Desire EYE vs Note 4 vs iPhone 6 vs LG G3 vs Xperia Z3 vs Galaxy S5 vs One M8

So, the HTC One M9 has received a brand new, 20 MP main camera (thank you, HTC), but that doesn't mean that UltraPixel is already a thing of the past. Actually, it turns out that the notorious 4 MP UltraPixel technology from the One's previous generations has found new life - one as the front camera of HTC's latest flagship!Thinking about it, that switch of roles makes perfect sense (ha!) - a front camera with a reasonable megapixel count and good capabilities to capture light in most various lighting conditions could prove to be a welcome tool for all those selfie lovers out there.Well, seeing that, for the time being, HTC's One M9 can only be accessed here at MWC 2015, where it just got announced a couple of days ago, we decided to seize this opportunity and check for ourselves exactly how the M9's selfie shooter stacks up against some other hot offerings, such as the One M8, iPhone 6, Galaxy Note 4, and Galaxy S5. We have the feeling that the new One M9 is going to have a tough time … [Read more...] about Selfie camera comparison: HTC One M9 vs One M8 vs iPhone 6 vs Note 4 vs Galaxy S5
0. phoneArena posted on 01 Mar 2015, 13:04 Well, folks, it's finally here – Samsung's latest flagship, and the successor to the Galaxy S5. The device sports an entirely different choice of materials, and a design language uncommon for Sammy – a unibody aluminium chassis, covered by Gorilla Glass 4 panels on both ends. Needless to say, the new handset looks radically different, and much classier, dare we say, compared to the rather dull, often disliked body of the Galaxy S5. But, of course, smartphones are more than just looks. Sammy's old flagship was a well-rounded device with powerful hardware, so how does the new handset hold up? Let's take a look! If you are reading this, we are guessing that you are either a proud owner of a Galaxy S5, or one that is interested in grabbing a Sammy flagship, and is curious to find out whether going for a cheaper buy with last year's top-of-the-line Samsung will mean you'd miss out on a lot. Well, let's take a look at everything that's new and improved in the Galaxy S6, so you could better make up your mind. This is a discussion for a news. 0. phoneArena posted on 03 Sep 2014, 13:08 It's that time of the year again, when our poor techies souls will be faced with an abundance of great handsets, barely half a year after we acquired the latest and greatest. You might have been a tad disappointed when the Galaxy S5 was announced with "only" 2 GB of RAM, no OIS, and biometric sensors of dubious usability, but it's still arguably one of the best all-around flagship handsets now, that is why we took it for a spin at the IFA expo, pitting it against the mighty new Note 4...
