Something to look forward to: Microsoft's next major Windows 11 release was expected for the second half of this year. Now it looks like version 22H2 is about a month away, with several new features and changes that have been undergoing testing in Insider builds. While some Windows components like the Start Menu, Task Manager, and the Taskbar are set to receive useful improvements with the 22H2 release, Microsoft is expected to roll out other enhancements as part of its "Moments" feature drop later this year. The first major feature update for Windows 11 is apparently arriving next month. According to Windows Central's Zac Bowden, there's nearly a dozen new notable additions and changes that will be accompanied by plenty of under the hood enhancements and bug fixes. PSA A security researcher has discovered a flaw in macOS that could let an attacker view every file on a system. Using it, hackers can circumvent every layer of Mac security, alter core system files, and access the webcam. Apple patched it last year, but older macOS versions are still vulnerable. Apple patched a severe vulnerability in macOS Monterey last October, but older versions remain susceptible to a code injection method that can break a Mac wide open. There are no known cases of attackers using the exploit, but it could leak sensitive information or grant a hacker elevated privileges. The exploit can bypass two principal security measures Apple designed to stop malicious code from spreading through a system. The first, macOS Sandbox, is supposed to confine malicious code to the app that it has infected. The Continental , a three-episode series that takes place before the events of the John Wick films, is coming to Peacock in 2023. In a press release , NBC announced that it has reached “a multi-year deal” for The Continental , which was originally set to premiere on Starz . Unlike the films, The Continental won’t center around Keanu Reeves as the titular assassin. It will instead explore the origin of the Continental Hotel that serves as a sanctuary for criminals throughout the John Wick franchise. The series is set in 1975 New York City and follows the younger version of Winston Scott (played by The Flight Attendant ’s Colin Woodell) as he tries to gain control of the Continental Hotel. Helping people manage their blood pressure is a major goal for health systems — but just sending someone who has high blood pressure home with a cuff isn’t particularly helpful, research shows . What does help is pairing people’s at-home blood pressure tracking with education support programs, regular counseling about medications from pharmacists, or systems that send regular updates to doctors. Apple is allegedly threatening to fire an employee who posted a TikTok video with basic iPhone security tips. The employee, Paris Campbell, says she was told that she breached company policy by identifying herself as an Apple employee and posting about Apple-related topics. People with high blood pressure who used a smartphone app and at-home monitor were able to drive down their blood pressure, a new study showed. The program, called Hello Heart, lets people track their blood pressure, weight, and physical activity and offers tips on how to manage blood pressure. Around half of adults in the United States have high blood pressure, but only around a quarter of those people have the condition under control. It can be a tricky condition to manage, particularly if people are only getting measurements taken in the doctor’s office — where it can be higher (from the stress of a doctor’s visit) or lower (through a condition called masked hypertension) than it is at home. But it can be dangerous and puts people at risk for heart disease and stroke. Federal authorities are warning of a surge in online threats against law enforcement officials following the FBI’s search of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida last week. On Friday, FBI and Department of Homeland Security authorities sent the alert through a joint intelligence bulletin shared with state, local, and tribal law enforcement officials across the country. Google appears poised to launch an updated Nest router equipped with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Thread mesh networking radios later this year, according to a new FCC filing . It has the model number A4R-G6ZUC, which is similar to IDs assigned to not only the previous Nest Wifi but also the Nest Mini, Thermostat, and even the Google Glass. In June, a source confirmed with 9to5Google that a new Google / Nest router was on its way, and now the outlet says it has confirmed this is the model number for that device.
