Check out this fan remake of The Simpsons: Hit & Run made with Unreal Engine 5

June 27, 2022 by www.techspot.com Leave a Comment

Recap: Games based on popular entertainment franchises (and vice versa) are usually a recipe for disaster, but The Simpsons: Hit & Run was a rare exception. This 2003 action-adventure title from Radical Entertainment for the PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox (and later, the PC) proved popular with gamers and critics alike, and is often considered one of the best Simpsons tie-in games ever made. It also looks to be an ideal candidate for a fan-made remake. YouTuber reubs recently shared progress on a project to remake Hit & Run as an open-world game using Unreal Engine 5. Before you get too excited, note that this is just for entertainment purposes and reubs has no plans to ever make it available to download. That said, the project is off to a great start. Rather than starting from scratch, reubs imported a previous mod of the game map into Unreal Engine. Some post-processing tweaks helped make the colors pop, and AI was used to upscale textures. A bit of manual massaging … [Read more...] about Check out this fan remake of The Simpsons: Hit & Run made with Unreal Engine 5

June 30, 2022 by www.techspot.com Leave a Comment

Why it matters: Amazon's cashierless Go stores have been around for a while now, and they continue to expand across the US and even overseas to UK capital London. It seems that Amazon is now looking to increase its revenue stream from these locations, and what better way to do it than by sharing shopper data with advertisers. Amazon confirmed the launch of a new analytics service that will share data collected by the Just Walk Out and Amazon Dash Cart technology in its Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh stores in the US. Some of the information Amazon will be sharing with advertisers include the percentage of products (from a particular company) that shoppers pick up and then buy, return to the shelf, or purchase later. Xbox Cloud Gaming is finally rolling out big latency improvements

June 23, 2022 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

Audio player loading… Microsoft has detailed its work on latency improvements for games on the cloud-based platform. And what's more, mouse and keyboard support is still due to come later this year. At present, Xbox Cloud Gaming 's display pipeline bears a latency of around 8-74 milliseconds. That's the time it takes for controller inputs to register in-game. However, it's now working on bringing its Direct Capture tech to a wider number of games on the service. This will cut latency to an impressively low 2-12 milliseconds, according to the latest update (opens in new tab) from Xbox Game Streaming Team's Morgan Brown. Similarly to many of the best 4K TVs , Direct Capture slashes latency by disabling a number of features. These include HDR, dynamic scaling and a 1440p resolution cap. That last one we won't have to worry about just yet. Xbox Cloud Gaming is capped to 1080p on PC and Xbox Series X |S, and 720p on mobile at present. Microsoft has also … [Read more...] about Xbox Cloud Gaming is finally rolling out big latency improvements

Remastered Blade Runner game available today on PC and consoles

June 23, 2022 by www.techspot.com Leave a Comment

Highly anticipated: The next remastered classic from Nightdive Studios is Westwood's critically acclaimed 1997 Blade Runner adventure game. After years of development difficulties, Nightdive has re-released the game with enhanced graphics and brought it to consoles for the first time. Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition launches today on Steam , Xbox consoles, PlayStation 4 , and Nintendo Switch for $10. It refreshes Westwood's 25-year-old point n' click adventure game with 4K upscaled videos, an enhanced HD user interface, improved subtitles, better anti-aliasing, and controller support. Nightdive announced the remaster project in 2020 but delayed it indefinitely the same year. The developer had trouble finding the game's source code, which disappeared after Electronic Arts acquired Westwood in 1998. Instead, Nightdive reverse engineered the code, and a licensing conflict prevented it from using ScummVM's existing work. The 1997 game, a spin-off of the famous 1982 … [Read more...] about Remastered Blade Runner game available today on PC and consoles
