Not that anybody doubted it, but Samsung has achieved its mid-2010 resolution to sell 10 million Samsung Galaxy S phones by the end of last year. Four million have come thanks to the North American market, 2.5 million in Europe and 2 million have been sold in South Korea. When you add the rest of the world, Sammy is patting itself on the back with more than 10 million units delivered to avid Android users. Thanks to Android's proliferation, and Samsung's innovative technologies, such as the Super AMOLED display, and Hummingbird chipset, the company might just be on the way to reach its more ambitious goal now - to become the top cell phone manufacturer by 2014, replacing Nokia. Of course, a bunch of feature phones will have to be churned out for that one to become reality, but Samsung has that base covered with its own bada OS as well, which the company aims to put in every phone of its making that is not WP7 or Android.source: StraitsTimes … [Read more...] about Samsung achieves its goal of 10 million Galaxy S phones sold

Take this report with a pinch of salt, but a German site is alleging that the European version of the Samsung Galaxy S is to receive Gingerbread in March. It is said that this information is coming straight from Samsung, but even if it is genuine, it's yet unknown whether only the German Samsung Galaxy S will get Android 2.3 or all European Galaxy S phones. As you most likely know, all US versions of the Samsung Galaxy S were updated to Froyo recently (though some setbacks were reported), so it's unlikely that they will taste the Gingerbread flavour in the coming weeks. With these facts present, it's fair to assume that we will have to wait some time before we get to know Gingerbread on our beloved Galaxy S devices. We would love to be proven wrong, though.source: SmartDroid.de via Android Community … [Read more...] about European Samsung Galaxy S phones to taste Gingerbread in March

IntroductionHistory has repeatedly shown us that you can't know where you are going, unless you know where you came from. Irrespective of subject or theme, revisiting the highlights of your own storyline provide a needed understanding of the mistakes you made and the shady turns you took. With only a few days on the countdown to Samsung Galaxy S8's unveil, we are taking a pause to look back at the line of its predecessors and take a look at how it all started for the Galaxy S line. Samsung, like most formidable players on the market, has made a good share of not-so-good decisions down the learning curve, but it's fair to say its flagship range has given plenty of reasons to trust the brand and expect nothing less than quality and true innovation. So, let's take a closer look at some of the most … [Read more...] about A journey through time: all Samsung Galaxy S phones so far
