Google is set to cut 12,000 jobs. The company's CEO Sundar Pichai shared the "difficult news" in an email to employees. The job cuts will impact the company's operations globally. Many of the affected employees in the US will get the email today. The letter also mentions the severance that the affected Google employees in the US will be getting. Job cuts have reportedly started at Amazon India. There are reports on social media that confirm that the layoffs have begun at the e-commerce giant's India office as well. Earlier this month, TOI had reported that Amazon will sack 1,000 employees, which is 1% of its workforce in India. Amazon has around 1 lakh employees in India. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced that the company will be cutting jobs in November 2022 and that the job cuts will spill over to 2023. On January 4, CEO Jassy announced that e-commerce titan is laying off 18,000 employees. Late last year, Amazon revealed that it will cut as many as 18,000 jobs. Now, the company has confirmed that more jobs will be cut. According to a report by CNBC, this will be the biggest number of layoffs in the company’s history. Why is Amazon laying off employees? linkedin: LinkedIn says four in five Indian professionals are looking for a new job in 2023

Hiring levels in India were 23% slower in December 2022 as compared to December 2021, LinkedIn said in a report, which added that despite this decline, four of five, or 80% of professionals are considering changing jobs in 2023. The report also says that the job change sentiment is largely led by Gen Z. According to LinkedIn’s economic graph data, the Indian workforce appears resilient in the face of economic uncertainty. Gen Z leads in terms of people who are looking to change jobs in 2023, with 88% of professionals aged 18-24 considering a switch, compared to 64% of those aged 45-54. "Despite uncertain economic times ahead, professionals are taking a long term view of their career by investing in their skills and proactively seeking opportunities to progress. Microsoft has announced big job cuts, affecting 10,000 employees. In a memo to employees, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that the company will be “making changes that will result in the reduction of our overall workforce by 10,000 jobs through the end of FY23 Q3.” While some employees will be notified this week, the entire 10,000 layoffs should be completed by the end of March 2023. As tech companies continue to slash jobs, the demand for tech positions has not diminished in the US, with eight of the top 10 "best jobs" this year being technology roles. According to data by job portal Indeed, the tech jobs in high demand are full-stack developers at the top spot, followed by data engineers, cloud engineers, senior product managers and back-end developers, among others.
