(C) Archant Norfolk 2013 After years of struggle, objectors have finally failed in a High Court bid to block erection of a 125-metre wind turbine on a site near Beccles. Leading the fight against the turbine was local landowner, Benjamin Howell, of Crake Hall, and the owners of a local flying club.Objections ranged from concerns over aviation safety to the potential impact on archaeological remains.But judge Sir Ross Cranston has now given the green light to Stamford Renewable Power Ltd to erect the turbine at Shipmeadow.The court in London heard the turbine was opposed by the Broads Authority, 10 town and parish councils and many local residents.Planning permission was refused by the local authority in 2012, but that decision was later reversed by a central … [Read more...] about Bid to block 125 metre wind turbine rejected by High Court
AN EL Niño weather event has an "80 per cent" chance of hitting the planet in the next three months. The UN's World Meteorological Organisation warns the event could bring floods to UK, US and Europe, and droughts elsewhere on the planret. Scientists warn the even is likely cause extreme weather and change temperatures as atmospheric patterns are thrown into chaos in 2019. While it is not likely to be as severe, the El Niño could still bring dangerous weather to vulnerable areas. The last event was in 2016 causing global temperatures to reach the highest levels ever recorded. Forecasters in the US and Australia have already warned of an approaching El Niño. We’ve seen countless leaked renders of this smartphone over the past few weeks and it looks like we’ll see a lot more before Samsung officially announces the handset. If you didn’t like some of the previously leaked renders that were low-res then you’re certainly going to like the ones that have been leaked online today.These renders don’t really make any new revelations because the Galaxy S9’s design is no longer a secret. Then again, the handset doesn’t come with a lot of design changes in the first place. It looks quite similar to its predecessor and that’s not something that a lot of fans appreciate, particularly when it comes to flagship smartphones. The announcement likely will not involve the iPad 3, Apple TV or other interactive television efforts, suggests All Things D, adding that the event may focus on a small-scale advertising or publishing revelation. Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, reportedly will be in attendance, All Things D adds: "Cue is in charge of a large swath of Apple’s media units, including the iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, as well as iAd and its iCloud services."
