Apps don’t make at-home blood pressure monitoring better

August 15, 2022 by www.theverge.com Leave a Comment

Managing blood pressure at home is already difficult, and syncing blood pressure equipment up to an app doesn’t make the process any better, a new study found. In this case, just like many others, technology isn’t a good replacement for medical support. August 15, 2022 by www.theverge.com Leave a Comment

Federal authorities are warning of a surge in online threats against law enforcement officials following the FBI’s search of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida last week. On Friday, FBI and Department of Homeland Security authorities sent the alert through a joint intelligence bulletin shared with state, local, and tribal law enforcement officials across the country. In the bulletin, federal officials said that the threats are being made “primarily online and across multiple platforms, including social media sites, web forums, video sharing platforms, and image boards,” according to CBS News , and that they observed individuals identifying law enforcement targets and doxxing their sensitive information online. The bulletin comes as Trump and his Republican allies have personally attacked the FBI for executing a search warrant on the former president’s Florida home last Monday. Trump himself has repeatedly targeted the FBI on his social media platform … [Read more...] about Online threats against law enforcement surged after Trump search, says FBI

January 19, 2010 by arstechnica.com Leave a Comment

The Google/China story has enough legs to qualify as a "centipede" at this point. After saying that it would no longer censor Chinese search results and that it was ready to pull out of China, Google also admitted to being the victim of a sophisticated cyberattack that went after more than 30 companies. The immediate aftermath of the announcement was a media feeding frenzy—and that was before the Chinese government's various departments even began reacting to the news. Now that they have, it's clear that Google and China are on a collision course, and that the US government is ready to get involved on Google's side. If you've had difficulty keeping up with the story, have no fear: here's a roundup of the news you need to know. Twists, turns, and U-turns An inside job? It's little more than an anonymously sourced rumor at this point, but Reuters says that insiders from Google's own Chinese office may have been involved in the cyberattack on the company. Chinese sources … [Read more...] about Google v. China: the Chinese government reacts
