Maybe it will come down to a debate about purity. For some, there's something dishonest about a sports car that you can switch from "docile" to "angry doberman" via a menu. I'm reminded of something Turn 10 Creative Director Dan Greenawalt said to me a few months ago when we were discussing his studio's approach to the Forza games. I'd asked Greenawalt how his team went about simulating some aspect of racing or another, and he told me it was more about giving the player a particular experience.
