Franklin Graham Defends Canadian Pastor Jailed over COVID Protocols

February 4, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

ROME — Celebrated Evangelical pastor Franklin Graham has defended Polish-Canadian pastor Artur Pawlowski, on trial for defying Coronavirus lockdowns to attend to the spiritual needs of the faithful. Calgary police arrested Pawlowski and his brother in 2021 for the crime of holding in-person Christian church services, contrary to the lockdown regulations in place in the province of Alberta. The pastor later ministered to truckers at the border blockade, which earned him another arrest and 51 days in prison. After multiple court appearances, Pawlowski was ordered by a federal judge in October 2021 to recite a script parroting Canadian health “experts” and publicly denouncing his own opinions on the coronavirus and vaccines. “I said, ‘I will not obey this court order,’” Pawlowski said at the time. “I refuse to obey a crooked judge’s order. He’s not a judge, he’s a political activist.” According to Rev. Graham, Pastor Pawlowski “has been attacked by the Canadian government … [Read more...] about Franklin Graham Defends Canadian Pastor Jailed over COVID Protocols

apple: Here’s what Apple CEO Tim Cook has to say on whether the company will lay off employees or not

February 3, 2023 by www.gadgetsnow.com Leave a Comment

Amazon has done it. So have Google, Microsoft, Intel, Twitter, Meta, Spotify and many others. You name it and almost every big tech company has done it, except one: Apple . We are talking about layoffs across the world. Apple, so far, has shied from laying off employees, even though it reported quarterly results which weren’t that great. Apple CEO Tim Cook was asked about the company taking the hard decision of laying off employees. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Cook said, “I view layoffs as a last resort kind of thing,” before adding, “You can never say never.” Managing and cutting costs Cook further said that Apple wants to manage costs “other ways to the degree that we can.” He also said that Apple recognises that the current environment is tough and the company is cutting costs as well. “We’re cutting hiring, we’re being very prudent and deliberate on people that we hire,” Cook said. Cook hasn’t really completely ruled out layoffs at … [Read more...] about apple: Here’s what Apple CEO Tim Cook has to say on whether the company will lay off employees or not

HBO Max, Paramount Plus join Netflix in frustrating 2023 TV show cancellation spree

February 3, 2023 by www.techradar.com Leave a Comment

Audio player loading… Update: Paramount has responded to TechRadar's request for comment about its Paramount Plus and Showtime merger. In the US, Paramount Plus ' premium tier will be rebranded to "Paramount Plus with Showtime". The merger will take place later this year – Paramount declined to provide an exact date – and will give customers "a more compelling offering" of content. Paramount says the move "is a natural next step" in its revamped strategy to become a singular, multiplatform, IP-driven company. As for UK and Australian audiences, Paramount confirmed no changes will be made to its current Paramount Plus subscription plans. Showtime is already integrated into Paramount Plus (as an extra channel) in non-US territories. On the topic of show cancellations and removals from its streaming platform, Paramount president and CEO Chris McCarthy explained – in an employee memo seen by TechRadar – the reasons behind these decisions. "As a part of Paramount … [Read more...] about HBO Max, Paramount Plus join Netflix in frustrating 2023 TV show cancellation spree

Apple’s iPhone and Mac Sales Boom During the Pandemic Has Hit a Snag

February 3, 2023 by www.cnet.com Leave a Comment

Tech companies were already huge before the COVID-19 pandemic began upending lives around the world three years ago. And they continued to grow as we became ever more reliant on our smartphones, computers and videoconference calls. Now Apple is the latest tech giant to signal that this period of growth may be coming to an end. The company reported that sales of its most important product, the iPhone, fell more than 8%, to nearly $65.8 billion. The reason, Apple said, included several factors, such as the fluctuating price of the US dollar across the world and especially strong sales of its products in the prior year. But the real crunch came from COVID-19 shutdowns late last year across the Chinese manufacturing centers Apple relies on . The results led to protests in China , and supply shortages for Apple's iPhones, in particular its $999 iPhone 14 Pro series. Apple CEO Tim Cook said many of those manufacturing problems have been resolved, for now. All told, Apple … [Read more...] about Apple’s iPhone and Mac Sales Boom During the Pandemic Has Hit a Snag

Bill Gates takes aim at Elon Musk: I’d rather fund vaccines than go to Mars

February 3, 2023 by www.techspot.com Leave a Comment

What just happened? Bill Gates and Elon Musk are two of the wealthiest people in the world, but they certainly don't see eye to eye. The pair have had public spats in the past, and now the former Microsoft boss has taken a shot at Musk's ambitions for sending missions to and colonizing Mars, saying he would rather pay for vaccines than travel to the red planet. In an interview with the BBC , Gates was asked by journalist Amol Rajan if going to Mars is not a good use of money. "It's actually quite expensive to go to Mars. You can buy measles vaccines and save lives for $1,000 per life saved," he replied. "And so [that] just kind of grounds you, as in - don't go to Mars." Gates' reply seems aimed chiefly at Elon Musk, whom he's clashed with in the past, though fellow billionaires Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson both have space exploration companies in Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic, respectively. Gates has poured billions into vaccine research and delivery around the world … [Read more...] about Bill Gates takes aim at Elon Musk: I’d rather fund vaccines than go to Mars
