Audio player loading… New details of Netflix’s anti-password sharing measures have appeared online, revealing how the platform plans to crack down on users. The newly found information was discovered on Netflix’s US Help Center and confirmed by The Streamable (opens in new tab) on January 31; however, that page has since been taken down. As of this writing, the Help Center has reverted back to its previous state. Fortunately, a copy of the rules can still be found on the Wayback Machine (opens in new tab) , a website that takes “screenshots” of the internet for the sake of posterity. According to the reports, “Netflix accounts are still shareable, but only within one household.” Anybody from outside your home won’t be able to use that account and will be told to create with their own. The platform will also require users to log into their Netflix account via their household’s Wi-Fi, open the app, and “watch something at least once every 31 days.” … [Read more...] about Netflix’s anti-password sharing will force you to sign in once a month – or get blocked

Two SpaceX commanders to receive the Congressional Space Medal of Honor
In brief: SpaceX astronauts Doug Hurley and Robert Behnken will receive the Congressional Space Medal of Honor on Tuesday. Both are former NASA astronauts who flew space shuttle missions before the program's retirement. The awardees went on to work for SpaceX. The Congressional Space Medal of Honor is a civilian award, not to be confused with the Medal of Honor for military members. It was introduced in 1969 and awarded to Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin for being the first humans to set foot on the moon. Traditionally, the medal is handed out to those who marked a first in space exploration. Congress also awarded it posthumously to the crews of the space shuttle disasters Challenger and Columbia. The last time it was awarded was in 2006, when Robert L Crippen piloted the first shuttle mission. So for the first time in 17 years, the White House will recognize Hurley and Behnken with the award as being the first commercial space crew to berth with the International Space … [Read more...] about Two SpaceX commanders to receive the Congressional Space Medal of Honor
The Resident Evil 4 remake will drop a decisive feature
Audio player loading… With Resident Evil 4's remake less than a couple of months away, fans have been wondering just how faithful it'll be to the original game. Until further notice, think twice before using Google to download software
Searching Google for downloads of popular software has always come with risks, but over the past few months, it has been downright dangerous, according to researchers and a pseudorandom collection of queries. “Threat researchers are used to seeing a moderate flow of malvertising via Google Ads,” volunteers at Spamhaus wrote on Thursday . “However, over the past few days, researchers have witnessed a massive spike affecting numerous famous brands, with multiple malware being utilized. Remove Ubuntu or XP from the Windows 7 Boot Menu
If you’ve ever used a dual-boot system and then removed one of the operating systems, it can still show up in Windows 7’s boot menu. We’ll show you how to get rid of old entries and speed up the boot process. Note: If you’re still rocking Windows XP, you can remove items from the boot menu there too . To edit the boot menu, we will use a program called bcdedit that’s included with Windows 7. There are some third-party graphical applications that will edit the menu, but we prefer to use built-in applications when we can. First, we need to open a command prompt with Administrator privileges. Open the start menu and type cmd into the search box. Right click on the cmd program that shows up, and select Run as administrator . Alternatively, if you’ve disabled the search box , you can find the command prompt in All Programs > Accessories. In the command prompt, type in bcdedit and press enter. A list of the boot menu entries will appear. … [Read more...] about Remove Ubuntu or XP from the Windows 7 Boot Menu
How to Delete, Modify or Disable an Incorrect or Duplicate Entry on the XP Boot Menu
Have you ever inherited a computer that has more than one entry on the Windows XP boot menu screen? Most of the time one of the entries doesn’t even work in the first place, and then you’re forced to either hit a key or wait 30 seconds every time. Note: If you’re on Windows 7 or Vista, there’s a different method required for removing boot menu items . There are two options to get around this: You can remove the offending boot menu item, or you can just turn off the boot menu from being displayed. If you aren’t tech savvy, you’ll want to just use the second option. Thanks to my friend Shawn for forgetting how to do this and prompting me to write this article. =) Removing an Incorrect Boot Menu Option on XP Note: This method involves modifying a very important boot configuration file. You should proceed with caution and always make sure you have backups of your files just in case something goes wrong. All of the boot menu options in Windows XP are stored in the … [Read more...] about How to Delete, Modify or Disable an Incorrect or Duplicate Entry on the XP Boot Menu
Too Hot to Handle: America Created 517,000 Jobs in January and Unemployment Fell to 3.4%
The U.S. economy added 517,000 jobs in January and the unemployment rate fell to 3.4 percent, the Labor Department said Friday. Economists had expected the economy to add 187,000 jobs and the unemployment rate to tick up to 3.6 percent. The range of forecasts by economists surveyed by Econoday was between a gain on payrolls of 150,000 to 260,000, a rather large range that suggests a higher level of uncertainty. On unemployment, the range of forecasts was 3.4 percent to 3.6 percent. The Labor Department’s Job Opening and Labor Turnover Survey, knowns as Jolts, showed that there were 11 million job openings at the end of December, around 1.9 vacancies for every unemployed person. Federal Reserve officials frequently cite the vacancy ratio as evidence that the labor market is so tight that it risks fueling inflation. In November, the preliminary report indicated the economy created 223,000 jobs, exceeding expectations for around 200,000. The unemployment rate was reported as … [Read more...] about Too Hot to Handle: America Created 517,000 Jobs in January and Unemployment Fell to 3.4%
Security researcher finds bug that may have allowed hackers to bypass Facebook’s 2FA
Meta created a centralised system to allow users to manage connected experiences like logging in across accounts on Facebook and Instagram . A security researcher has said a bug in this system, called Meta Accounts Center , may have allowed hackers to disable two-factor authentication (2FA) – a way that helps users to keep their social media accounts protected from unauthorised access. Gtm Mänôz, a security researcher from Nepal, said he reported a bug he found in the Meta Accounts Center in September last year. Bug in Meta Accounts Center Mänôz said that he found that Meta did not set up a limit to enter login code it sends via SMS as a part of the two-factor authentication process. As per the researcher, this bug would have allowed a hacker to bypass the authentication protections using brute force attacks. Read Also Meta to shut down social to-do list app 'Move' in March It is to be noted that when users set up two-factor … [Read more...] about Security researcher finds bug that may have allowed hackers to bypass Facebook’s 2FA
ChatGPT adds 100 million users in two months, making it the fastest-growing “app” ever
In brief: The recent rise in popularity of ChatGPT has been meteoric, to say the least. According to new analysis, the AI platform in January reached 100 million users following its launch on November 30, which makes it the fastest-growing consumer app in history, though the chatbot itself doesn't believe it should be classed as an app. According to analysis by Swiss bank UBS, the speed at which ChatGPT has added 100 million users makes it the fastest-growing consumer app in history— more than one million people were using the site within five days of its launch. Reuters notes that this puts it ahead of TikTok, which took nine months to reach 100 million users. Instagram, meanwhile, took two and half years to hit the same figure. You knew it was just a matter of time until we did this (extend the @MintMobile savings with @OpenAI , that is). pic.twitter.com/uf2jblpG2j — Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) January 10, 2023 However, when ZDNet asked ChatGPT if it … [Read more...] about ChatGPT adds 100 million users in two months, making it the fastest-growing “app” ever
