Written by Bredesen campaign manager Bob Corney to advisers and "interested parties," the memo notes that since launching the former two-term governor's Senate campaign on Dec. 7, "we've rapidly gone from crawling to walking and, now, running" with $1.8 million in contributions and two television ads. The memo, entitled "State of the Race," comes with 200 days left until the Nov. 7 general election contest featuring Bredesen and Republican U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn. Judge’s ruling clears path for city to develop abandoned portion of Helmerich Park
A Thursday ruling from a Tulsa County judge would clear the way for a proposed 8.8-acre development along the Arkansas River at Helmerich Park.Plaintiffs plan to appeal the ruling by Judge Jefferson Sellers, which comes nearly three years after the Tulsa Public Facilities Authority voted to sell the property to a Dallas developer for $1.465 million. The sale was immediately challenged in court by Tulsa resident Craig Immel, who argued TPFA did not have the legal authority to sell the property. The lawsuit was later amended to include more plaintiffs and other legal arguments against the sale. The parties agreed earlier this month that the case did not need to go to a jury and that instead Sellers would rule on their respective requests for summary judgment.Sellers on Thursday ruled in favor of the city's request while declining the plaintiffs' request for summary judgement, effectively allowing the city's plans to move forward. The Tulsa Public Facilities Authority's agreement with … [Read more...] about Judge’s ruling clears path for city to develop abandoned portion of Helmerich Park

DARPA Sees Clear Path to Faster Cheaper Space Technology
WASHINGTON — The commercial space industry can mass produce satellites that are small but quite sophisticated for the price. And launch vehicles are getting better and cheaper by the day. So it only makes sense for the U.S. military to ride that wave, said Steven Walker, the director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. DARPA was created 60 years ago as an antidote to the stubbornly inflexible system the military uses to develop and acquire technology. The agency now sees an opportunity to flex its disruptive muscles in space programs. [The Most Dangerous Space Weapons Concepts] Walker agrees with recent Pentagon and intelligence community assessments that outer space has become more militarized and U.S. satellites are vulnerable. This is a reality that DARPA predicted long before the Pentagon officially recognized space as a potential battlefront."Space is going to be one of my priorities," Walker said Thursday at a defense writers breakfast meeting. … [Read more...] about DARPA Sees Clear Path to Faster Cheaper Space Technology
