Former Trump official claims the US would destroy TSMC plants were China to invade Taiwan

March 15, 2023 by www.techspot.com Leave a Comment

Why it matters: The idea that the US would destroy Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing facilities to keep them out of China's hands in the event of an invasion has resurfaced. The very mention of such a drastic measure highlights the volatility of tensions surrounding the three countries, but TSMC thinks its factories could be neutralized much less violently. Former US National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien told Semafor this week that the US and its allies would destroy TSMC's manufacturing capacity in Taiwan if they failed to prevent China from invading and taking over the self-ruled island. O'Brien warned that letting China take control of the facilities would give it too much power, but TSMC disagrees. TSMC is easily the world's largest maker of the semiconductors that power most computerized devices today. As such, its fate and the subsequent effects on the global economy are a primary issue of concern regarding tensions between China, Taiwan, and the US. China Bashes Japan PM Daring to Visit India While Xi Jinping Is in Russia

China’s regime-controlled news outlet condemned conservative Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio on Monday for daring to visit India while China’s dictator Xi Jinping began a trip to Russia, accusing Kishida of pursuing ambitions “too big for his boots” and lamenting that Kishida and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi were siphoning media away from Moscow. Kishida landed in New Delhi on Sunday, meeting with Modi and engaging in extensive exchanges meant to promote Japan’s economic involvement in India as well as planning further geopolitical cooperation. PM Kishida: During my first visit to #India in a year, Prime Minister Modi ( @narendramodi ) and I discussed a wide range of issues facing the international community. We also confirmed that we will cooperate in the leadup to both the #G7 and the #G20 summits and that we will (1/2) pic.twitter.com/cm3fvJJUy4 — PM's Office of Japan (@JPN_PMO) March 20, 2023 On Monday, Kishida delivered a speech in India laying … [Read more...] about China Bashes Japan PM Daring to Visit India While Xi Jinping Is in Russia

Australia's 5G rollout is well and truly underway at this stage, with Telstra claiming that its own coverage reached 50% of the Australian population by January this year, less than two years after initiating the rollout. And it looks like the Aussie telcos are doing well in this regard, as per the latest report (opens in new tab) from internet speed-testing company Ookla. The report suggests that Australia's 5G network is one of the best in the world, with a median download speed of 283.56Mbps – a significant figure when compared wth the global average of 142.05Mbps. Comparatively, the only trading partner nations that were ahead of Australia were South Korea (with a median speed around 430Mbps) and China (just ahead at a little over 300Mbps). Now's a great time to check out 5G home internet in Australia Which telco's 5G is king? ABC News Refuses to Review ‘Laptop from Hell’ While Reporting Hunter’s Claims

March 18, 2023 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

ABC News acknowledged Friday that the legacy outlet has refused to review Hunter Biden’s abandoned “Laptop from Hell” — all while reporting on the infamous laptop story by printing scoops from Hunter’s legal team. In its Friday report on Hunter’s “counterclaims alleging invasion of privacy in response to a defamation lawsuit brought by the Delaware-based computer repairman,” ABC News admitted it “has not reviewed nor verified the contents of the laptop or hard drive.” ABC News reporter Lucien Bruggeman, a former Stephen Colbert intern, acknowledged the news organization has not “reviewed nor verified” the “Laptop from Hell” after it was publicly disclosed two years ago by Breitbart News political editor Emma-Jo Morris, who was formerly at the New York Post and broke what some say is the greatest bombshell story in the twenty-first century — that President Joe Biden (Big Guy) was in on a family deal to earn China cash. While ABC News has not taken the time to verify the … [Read more...] about ABC News Refuses to Review ‘Laptop from Hell’ While Reporting Hunter’s Claims

Photos: Strange, Eyeless Creatures from the Cambrian Period

October 17, 2014 by www.livescience.com Leave a Comment

Fossils of bizarre, figure-8 shaped creatures called vetulicolians that lived during the Cambrian Period have now been discovered. An analysis of the fossils revealed these eyeless creatures sported a hollow nerve structure called a notochord similar to today's vertebrates, including humans. Here's a look at the oddballs. [ Read full story on the bizarre Cambrian creature ] Off Kangaroo Island The 500-million-year-old swimming filter-feeders called vetulicolians have been a mystery since their discovery more than a century ago. Now, with the discovery of new vetulicolian fossils on Kangaroo Island off of Australia, researchers at the University and Adelaide and the South Australian Museum believe they understand how vetulicolians fit into the tree of life. As improbable as it seems, these bizarre creatures are distant relations of humans. Eyeless Swimmer: Bizarre Primitive Animal Is Your Cousin

October 17, 2014 by www.livescience.com Leave a Comment

Newfound fossils may solve a century-long mystery over the identity of a bizarre 500-million-year-old animal. Strange figure-8 shaped creatures from the Cambrian Period are actually very distant cousins of humans, according to a new study. These vetulicolians, as they are known, appear to have possessed a notochord, a hollow nerve structure — just like modern vertebrates, including humans. "It finally puts to rest the position of this weird-looking group of animals," study researcher Diego Garcia-Bellido, an invertebrate paleontologist at the University of Adelaide in Australia and an honorary research associate at the South Australian Museum, wrote in an email to Live Science. The findings also suggest that chordates, or creatures with notochords, were diverse and successful from the beginning of animal evolution , he said.
