musk: Here’s why Elon Musk changed his name to Mr Tweet

January 27, 2023 by www.gadgetsnow.com Leave a Comment

Elon Musk bought Twitter in October last year and since his acquisition, he has been addressed by multiple names, including “Chief Twit”, and “Twitter boss” among others. The billionaire recently changed his name to Mr Tweet and tweeted that Twitter is not letting him change his name, meaning he could be stuck with that name – at least for a while. “Changed my name to Mr Tweet, now Twitter won’t let me change it back,” he tweeted. This is probably due to a rule change according to which, users who were verified under Twitter's legacy policy won’t be able to change their display names on the app. The rule was aimed at preventing impersonation after Twitter's paid verification rollout was followed by impersonations of various brands and public figures. The CEO has now announced another update regarding the platform’s timeline saying the 'For You or Following' choice will be persistent soon. The conversation started when MMA fighter Matt Brown tagged Musk complaining that he doesn’t understand the new Twitter timeline. “I don’t understand my Twitter timeline anymore it’s filled with crypto junk and political junk I just want fight stuff what’s up @elonmusk,” he tweeted. In a reply, Musk said that Twitter is working on it. The conversation was taken forward by another Twitter user saying, "I don't mind the way it's set up, just put the recommended tweets in chronological order, and make it to where it stays on either 'For You' or 'Following' even after closing the app and coming back." To this, Musk replied: "Next app update will make For You or Following choice persist. … [Read more...] about Elon Musk announces ‘next app update’ on Twitter, here’s what it may bring

musk: Twitter advertising: Here’s why Elon Musk’s ‘party is on’

January 18, 2023 by www.gadgetsnow.com Leave a Comment

It seems Elon Musk is getting what he wanted: advertising on Twitter. The company owner has been working to woo advertisers to turn the fortunes of the company after he bought it for a whopping $44 billion. As per a report, a number of media companies are planning content sponsorship deals on the social media giant. Citing a schedule of events shared with ad partners, Axios reports that Twitter is planning to run content sponsorship deals with more than three dozen news outlets, media companies and sports leagues in the first half of this year. The development holds a lot of significance because many advertisers fled the platform, leaving depleted revenue. However, "media companies, newsrooms and sports leagues are reaping too much revenue and marketing advantage to quit the platform," Axios said. The news article with these details was shared by Musk on Twitter with the caption, “The party is on!!” Which media companies will run sponsorship deals? … [Read more...] about musk: Twitter advertising: Here’s why Elon Musk’s ‘party is on’

October 28 was the day when Elon Musk officially became the new owner of Twitter . Since then there have been wholesale changes — none bigger than the number of people that work at Twitter. According to a report by CNBC, Twitter now has just 1,300 full-time employees. Twitter 2.0: Drastic reduction in headcount The report says that before Musk bought Twitter, the total headcount was 7,500. Twitter now has less than 550 engineers working for it. Twitter’s trust and safety team — responsible for keeping users ‘safe’ — now has less than 20 full-time employees working. Interestingly, the report mentions that internal records suggest that Twitter still has 1,400 ‘non-working’ employees. These are employees who continue to be paid by Twitter but don’t execute their responsibilities. The report suggests many of these non-working employees are those who resigned when Musk asked them to sign a pledge, which involved “extreme hardcore” work and long working hours at … [Read more...] about musk: From 7,500 employees to just 1,300: The Elon Musk ‘effect’ at Twitter

musk: Here’s what Twitter co-founder has to say on Elon Musk’s ownership of the company

January 27, 2023 by www.gadgetsnow.com Leave a Comment

Elon Musk has taken a lot of heat since his acquisition of Twitter and he has been criticised by several personalities, including senators and former employees, for his decisions taken in view of how the company works. In the latest development, one of the four founding members of the social media company has said that the Tesla chief ‘doesn’t seem like’ the right person to own Twitter. In an interview with The Guardian, Biz Stone said that running a social media company is “not really a win-win situation … it’s always tough”, because “50% of the people are gonna be happy, 50% of people are gonna be upset with you”. Stone also said that Musk doesn’t seem like the right person to lead right now, “but I could be wrong.” Musk reversed improvements in content policies Stone co-founded Twitter in 2006 with Jack Dorsey , Noah Glass and Evan Williams . He returned to the company in 2017 when Dorsey was the CEO to “guide the company culture, that energy, that … [Read more...] about musk: Here’s what Twitter co-founder has to say on Elon Musk’s ownership of the company

tesla: Elon Musk says Tesla price cuts triggered demand, 2023 sales could hit 2 million vehicles

January 26, 2023 by www.gadgetsnow.com Leave a Comment

Tesla Inc's aggressive price cuts have ignited demand for its electric vehicles, Chief Executive Elon Musk said on, playing down concerns that a weak economy would throttle buyers' interest. The company slightly beat Wall Street targets for fourth-quarter revenue and profit earlier on Wednesday despite a sharp decline in vehicle profit margins, and it sought to reassure investors that it can cut costs to cope with recession and as competition intensifies in the year ahead. Deep price cuts this month have positioned Tesla as the initiator of a price war, but its forecast of a 37% rise in car volume for the year, to 1.8 million vehicles, was down from 2022's pace. However, Musk, who has missed his own ambitious sales targets for Tesla in recent years, said 2023 deliveries could hit 2 million vehicles, absent external disruption. Tesla's sales prospects, as it confronts a weaker economy, are a key focus for investors. The company said it maintains a long-term … [Read more...] about tesla: Elon Musk says Tesla price cuts triggered demand, 2023 sales could hit 2 million vehicles
