LAST night's Bodyguard finale on BBC One was incredibly tense – so you'd be forgiven for missing a geeky gaffe during one of the most gripping scenes. Producers working on the show failed to get a small technical detail right when filming the bomb-defusing scene in Bodyguard episode six. Sergeant David Budd, played by Richard Madden, was strapped into an explosive vest by a sinister criminal organisation. After convincing police that he wasn't a terrorist, Budd asked if he'd be allowed to defuse the bomb. Explosives expert Daniel Chung agreed, sending over a bomb disposal robot to help Budd safely deactivate the vest. The robot was equipped with a microphone and speakers, so that Chung could talk to Budd. But the bot was also equipped with a small camera that gave Chung a live feed of Budd's chest – to which the bomb's controller circuitry was strapped. The camera was actually a GoPro Hero 4 Silver Edition, which is recognisable due to its large frontal power button, and … [Read more...] about Bodyguard finale BLUNDER – did you spot this geeky fail with Budd’s bomb disposal robot?

The 500-kilogramme (1,100-pound) aerial bomb, thought to have been dropped by American forces, was discovered during construction work earlier in the week. "Good news: the bomb has been defused! Citizens may return to their homes," the city of Ludwigshafen said on its official Twitter feed. It also posted a picture of the freshly unearthed, corroded bomb, strapped to a pallet before being removed from the area. Authorities in the western city had ordered all those living within a 1,000-metre (0.6-mile) radius of the bomb site to leave their homes from 08:00 am (0600 GMT) as a precaution ahead of the defusing … [Read more...] about WWII bomb defused in Germany after 18,500 evacuated
No injuries were reported, initial police reports state. But whether or not further explosions would occur has not been ruled out. Just after 11 pm on Wednesday, the bomb disposal team succeeded in unscrewing the detonator on the bomb, the police in Saxony said. Insulation material then started to burst into flames and the bomb was partly detonated. Numerous people reported on social media that they could hear a loud bang. There was also a large cloud of smoke during the partial explosion. Even about an hour later, insulation material that had burned still lay over the bomb. It was not certain whether there was any explosive material still in the device. "The danger has not yet been averted,” police wrote on Twitter in the morning on Thursday. Only the bomb disposal team are currently in the restricted area. Aktuelle Infos zur #FliegerbombeDD : Es brennt noch am Fundort. Wir haben uns mit unserem Hubschrauber einen Überblick verschafft.
